California, USA: Fresno County Celebrates "Falun Dafa Week" (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net September 17th) On September 14, 2003, the celebration of Fresno County's "Falun Dafa Week" was held at the County Library. Mr. Tony Lee, the District Coordinator of California State Assemblyman Steve Samuelian, came to the celebration on behalf of the assemblyman and issued awards and proclamations on his behalf. Dafa practitioners from Fresno County and other counties and cities of California attended the celebration together with the local residents.

Mr. Tony Lee spoke on behalf of State Assemblyman Steve Samuelian, explaining that the assemblyman had been tightly scheduled, and could not attend the celebration in person, so the assemblyman sent him to express congratulations. Mr. Lee said in his speech that today's society and community face many difficult problems to be solved, such as drugs, violence, crime and so on. Falun Dafa can solve these problems by holistically elevating people in mind, body and spirit. Mr. Lee also expressed that he could not understand the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong. He emphasized that the U.S. is a free society, where people can freely practice Falun Gong. Falun Gong's contribution to society will win be encouraged by and recognized by the government. Mr. Tony Lee's speech was greeted with warm applause from the audience. A representative of the practitioners presented Mr. Lee with Dafa books and Falun Dafa Exercise Instruction videotapes. Mr. Lee was then interviewed by NTD TV.

At the celebration, practitioners read some proclamations issued by Fresno County government officials, including US Congressman Calvin Dooley, Clovis Mayor Pro Tem Nathan Magsig, Fresno Mayor Alan Autry, Orange Cove Mayor Victor Lopez, and Selma Mayor Dennis Lujian.

The practitioners expressed their sincere gratitude to the Fresno County government officials for their proclamations and support. The celebration activity also included Falun Gong practitioners' exercise demonstration and a video program introducing Falun Dafa.

In the end, some local residents attending the celebration learned to practice the Falun Gong exercises.
