1. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Laixi Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Xiuai Abstains from Food and Water in Protest over an Unlawful Arrest
On the evening of August 9, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Xiuai from Lanshan Village under the jurisdiction of Shuiji Office in Laixi City went out to post materials clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. She was followed and abducted. She broke away from detention using righteous thoughts and went home. The next morning, members of the Laixi City "610 Office"* forcibly took her to a brainwashing facility located in Xinzhuang Village under the jurisdiction of the Wangcheng Office in Laixi City. The brainwashing class was held by the Laixi City "610 Office." Ms. Li went on a hunger strike in protest of the abduction. She abstained from both food and water for seven days and was in critical condition. The "610 Office" transferred her to Qingdao City for further persecution.

2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Chengdu Falun Dafa Practitioners Du Jie and Wu Jianping were Unlawfully Held in the Pi County Detention Center
On the New Year's Day of 2001, Ms. Du Jie and Ms. Wu Jianping went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa. They were each unlawfully sentenced to a forced labor camp by the Erxianqiao Police Station. Ms. Du was transferred to the Nanbusi Women's Forced Labor Camp because she practiced Falun Dafa while serving her term. She was not released until October 2002 after being unlawfully held beyond her original 1 year term.
In mid-June 2003, police officers from the Erxianqiao Police Station and the Chenghua District Division of the Police Department unlawfully arrested Ms. Du and Ms. Wu. They have been detained for over three months and remain in custody at the Pi County Detention Center in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province.
3. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Guangzhou Falun Dafa Practitioner Xie Shaodong is Unlawfully Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison
Mr. Xie Shaodong was arrested by the "610 Office" while clarifying the facts about Falun Gong. Recently he was unlawfully sentenced to eight years in prison.
4. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Zhengzhou Falun Dafa Practitioner Couple Hu Jianqing and Shao Hongying were Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison
The Zhengzhou police unlawfully took Mr. Hu Jianqing to the Zhengzhou City No. 2 Detention Center in July 2002. Employees from Mr. Hu's company that were sent to visit him did not even recognize him due to the inhumane torture that he endured for an extended period of time. In June 2003, because Mr. Hu refused to give up practicing Falun Gong, he was unlawfully sentenced to four years in prison. He is being held in the No. 15 Regiment of the Zhengzhou Forced Labor Camp located in Xinmi City.
Mr. Hu's wife Shao Hongying was unlawfully arrested in October 2002. She remained steadfast in her belief in Falun Dafa and was unlawfully sentenced to eight years in prison in August 2003. She is being held in the Henan Province Women's Prison located in Xinxiang City. After the couple were unlawfully arrested and sentenced, their 8- or 9- year old son could hardly survive with his grandmother, who is approaching 70.
5. [Pingdu City, Shandong Province] Yunshan Township Political and Judiciary Committee Makes up Lies in an Attempt to Unlawfully Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioner Zhang Zhuqin
Around 11:00 a.m. on July 22, 2003, two dozen police officers arrived in three vehicles at Yujiazhuang Village. The police squad was headed by Gao Pengxu, Party Secretary of the Yunshan Village Political and Judiciary Committee in Pingdu City. They were led to the home of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Zhuqin by Yu Mingshu, the Village Party Secretary. The officers claimed that Ms. Zhang had escaped after being arrested in Qingdao City, Shandong Province. However, Zhang's neighbors told them that they had seen Ms. Zhang at home every day. She has plenty of farm work as her husband was out of town. She took care of everything at home and on the farm. How could she have ever been arrested in Qingdao City? Fortunately, Ms. Zhang was not at home that day and thus avoided being unlawfully arrested.
6. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Taian Falun Dafa Practitioners Zhou Xinggui and Huang Xigui were Unlawfully Held at the Taian City Detention Center
Ms. Zhou Xinggui and Huang Xigui are Falun Dafa practitioners from Taiqian Village in Taishan District, Taian City. On September 13, they were distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in the Fanzhen area in Daiyue District and were unlawfully arrested. They are being held in the Taian City Detention Center.
7. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Scenes at the Guangming Market in Wanghua District
At around 5:00 p.m. on August 23, 2003, a group of police officers forcibly took away a young medium-build Falun Dafa practitioner in a building across from the Guangming Market in Wanghua District, Fushun City. The officers viciously attacked the youth in broad daylight. Later the practitioner's home was ransacked. The young practitioner shouted to the crowds that "Falun Dafa Is Good! Falun Dafa Is the Righteous Law!" He was rushed away in a hurry.
8. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Officers from the "610 Office" Unlawfully Arrest Falun Dafa Practitioner Xiong Hanlian at the Yangyuan Area in Wuchang District
Ms. Xiong Hanlian was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong in the neighborhood when tipsters informed the police. In early September officers from the "610 Office" in the Yangyuan Police Station unlawfully tailed her and abducted her into the notorious Yangyuan Brainwashing Center.
9. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Chengdu Branch Campus of the No. 3 Military Medical University Forces Newly Enrolled Students to Defame Falun Dafa
The background screening staff on the Chengdu Branch Campus of the No. 3 Military Medical University forced newly enrolled students to copy and write statements that defame Falun Dafa and its founder. Some staff (in military uniforms) even viciously forced the students to read these statements aloud. Many students were coerced into writing these statements despite their utmost reluctance.
10. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Wuchang Policemen Stake Out under the Building Where Falun Dafa Practitioner Nie Changyun Lives
Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Nie Changyun, 58, is from the Wuchang area in Wuhan City, Hubei Province. In December 2002, the police made up excuses and broke into Ms. Nie's home to forcibly take her away. Ms. Nie refused to cooperate and was thus forced to leave home; she was separated from her family with no place to stay. The police have since been harassing Ms. Nie's son at the company where he's employed. They coerced the company leaders not to promote him. On September 10, 2003, the police came into Ms. Nie's home again to arrest her. The head of the police station, Zhou from the "610 Office," security staff of the neighborhood committee, and other policemen arrived in two fully packed vehicles. Failing to capture Ms. Nie, the officers have been camped out under the building ever since.
11. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] List of Some Falun Dafa Practitioners Unlawfully Held in the Hongweixing Brainwashing Class
The list includes: Ms. Bai Yufu, Ms. Liu Tongling, Ms. Li Yue'e, Ms. Yao Qingyun (of the Properties Company), and Ms. Li Fengying (a doctor at the No. 4 Hospital).
Ms. Bai Yufu has been unlawfully held in the Hongweixing Brainwashing Class for six days. She went on a hunger strike in protest of the persecution. She is in a very weak condition and undergoing treatment in the hospital, however, the authorities have refused to release her.
12. [Sanhe City, Hebei Province] Sanhe "610 Office" Plans to Hold Brainwashing Classes during the October 1 National Day Season
The Sanhe City "610 Office" is planning to conduct brainwashing sessions around the October 1 National Day. It has been reported that a list has been compiled for the upcoming abduction of Falun Dafa practitioners.
13. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Ten Falun Dafa Practitioners Unlawfully Sentenced to Prison
On September 10, the Yingzhou District Court in Fuyang City unlawfully sentenced ten Falun Dafa practitioners to prison. They are Mr. Xie Jiaqi, Mr. Liu Jie, Mr. Li Yuanwei, Ms. Li Dongmei, Mr. Wei Guoliang, Mr. Shi Guoyan, Ms. Shi Hongxiu, Mr. Shang Xueying, Mr. Chen Baoren, and Mr. Liu Shixia. The prison terms range from three years to seven years.
On the evening of February 11, 2002, these ten practitioners, along with other fellow practitioners, distributed a large number of leaflets and unfurled banners about the truth of Falun Gong in Xihu County, Fuyang City and neighboring areas. The impact was quite significant.

14. [Ningguo City, Anhui Province] Falun Dafa Practitioners Shao Bixia and Xu Chaoyun are Unlawfully Sent to the Forced Labor Camp Again
Ms. Shao Bixia and Ms. Xu Chaoyun were released in October 2001 from the Hefei Forced Labor Camp. After studying the Fa more thoroughly, both of them cleared their minds and again participated in the Fa-rectification. The "610 Office" once again abducted them to a brainwashing class for persecution. They resisted by staging hunger strikes and left the facility with righteous thoughts in mind. In early September, the police threw them into the Hefei Forced Labor Camp again. Ms. Shao is to serve a term of three years, and Ms. Xu two years.
15. [Fuyang City, Anhui Province] Over Twenty Falun Dafa Practitioners Unlawfully Held in the Fuyang City Detention Center for Extended Periods of Time
Police officers from the Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office" in Fuyang City unlawfully arrested many Falun Dafa practitioners at the beginning of the year. Some practitioners have been unlawfully sentenced to prison or sent to forced labor camps, while others are being unlawfully held in the detention center. Over twenty practitioners have been unlawfully held in the Fuyang City Detention Center for extended periods of time, including Mr. Li Ce, Mr. Wu Hongwei, Mr. Zheng Bao, Mr. Wang Shengli, Ms. Wang Gehong, Ms. Liu Shuya, Ms. Ouyang Shasha, Mr. He Haigu, and others. The police forbade family members of these practitioners from visiting them. Qi Chenggang, head of the "610 Office," openly extorts money and other valuable items from family members. It has been learned that the "610 Office" is preparing a new round of persecution during the October 1 National Day holiday season.
