On September 15, 2003, a court in northeast China illegally tried two Dafa practitioners. The two refused to cooperate with the corrupt authorities. With righteous thoughts they escaped from detention. This shocked the local officers who were treating them so badly.

To protest their illegal detention, three Dafa practitioners started a hunger strike on July 16. So far the strike has lasted 60 days. Recently, two of them were seen being carried out on a stretcher.

Police officers Wang Xueqiu and Lu (a brigade head) conspired together to persecute Dafa practitioners. Falun Gong practitioners supervised by those two men suffered greatly. They made use of collaborators [former Falun Gong practitioners who have gone astray due to brainwashing and torture] to monitor determined Dafa practitioners. No talking is allowed. As soon as a Dafa practitioner talks, he or she will be cursed and made to suffer long-term mental and physical punishment. Determined Dafa practitioners are detained in solitary confinement and brainwashed by a group of collaborators. After the brainwashing failed, practitioners' legs are bound together and their hands cuffed behind their backs. After a long time, this becomes a severe form of torture, leaving some practitioners unable to walk and to become very weak. Some are bound to steel benches for as long as over one month with only two meager meals a day. They were bound all day long except for at mealtime. No moving, no water, no use of the bathroom. Even Dafa practitioners who are over 60 years old are treated this way.

On September 8, 2003, Ms. Ge Manzhen and another Dafa practitioner were arrested by police officers while posting "Falun Dafa Is Good" posters at the Jianglin Automotive Company. Now they are being detained at the Xinjian Detention Center. Police officers ransacked the room Mr. Ge was living in. According to people who know the specifics about this situation say that even Mr. Ge's black and white TV and the spare change on the table were stolen during the search.

Presently, the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp are forcing Dafa practitioner whose labor camp terms are over to give up practicing Falun Gong by detaining them in solitary confinement. They were tortured in very heavily in various other methods before being released.

Shi Xiuyu has been arrested by the county "610 Office" [a bureau specifically created by the Chinese government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches] and is being detained in the County Detention Center.

Li has been actively involved in the persecution of Dafa practitioners. He organized to report to upper level a list of "important" Falun Gong practitioners, and cooperated with the Yuhua Street Police Office to put pressure on the families and employers of Dafa practitioners to force/coerce those Dafa practitioners to write "guarantees to give up Falun Gong." Li has also been part of sending Dafa practitioners to brainwashing sessions.

Recently, some officers in Shandong Province are trying to control all freedom of speech on the internet in the Province. They wanted to: "guarantee that they could monitor all terminals in every internet Cafe", and threatened the owner of cafes if they did not obey the order, the owners would be: "fined as much as 15,000 Yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] or for repeated offenders, have their businesses closed down and suspend the "Security Check Book" and the "Security Check Certificate." The freedom of speech of the people in China is being totally deprived.
