California: Several City Council Members Attend Celebration of Falun Dafa Week in Santa Clara County (Photos) (Clearwisdom.net September 26, 2003) On the morning of September 24, 2003, the celebration
ceremony for Santa Clara County Falun Dafa Week was held on the square in front of the county
government building. San Jose City Council member Chuck Reed, Saratoga City Council member Stan
Bogosian, San Jose City Council member Forrest Williams and Campbell City Council member Matthew
Dean attended the ceremony. San Jose City Council members Cindy Chavez and Terry Gregory sent
representatives to offer congratulations. The celebration ceremony conference site was arranged to be dignified and auspicious. Around the
square, banners reading "Falun Dafa is Great" and "Truthfulness, Compassion,
Forbearance" were set up. The melodious music and baloons flying in the air filled the square
with a holiday atmosphere. Posters introducing Falun Gong were set up around the square. Near noon,
many government officials attended the ceremony and gave speeches. San Jose City Council member Chuck Reed said in his speech that it was surprising for a
government to fear people believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." Practicing
Falun Gong is protected by law in our country. Here people have freedom of speech, religion and
assembly. America is not like the Chinese government, America is a country that respects human
rights. The important thing is that we do not allow the Chinese government to extend the persecution
of Falun Gong over here. At the same time, we oppose the persecution of Falun Gong. We urge the
Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. At the same time we continue our efforts
with the US government to stop the persecution of US citizens being illegally imprisoned in China. Saratoga City Council member Stan Bogosian said that his city had become more graceful since the
appearance of Falun Gong. The audience was attracted by the Falun Gong exercise demo, dancing and music. As it was held at
noon, many staff members stopped and viewed the ceremony.
