Falun Gong Japan's Miyazaki Daily News reported on August 15 on the appeal for the rescue of Yoko Kaneko (39
years old), a former resident of Niigata county who was arrested by Chinese authorities in May of
2002 for distributing truth-clarifying materials describing the facts about the persecution of Falun
Gong. Kaneko was arrested in Beijing and has been detained since last year. A national car tour came
to Miyazaki county on August 13 and 14 and held activities in front of the Miyazaki department store
to appeal for Kaneko's rescue. The team also submitted a written request to the Miyazaki county
magistrate and Miyazaki mayor calling for her rescue. One of the automobile team members, Kanae Iga,
said that Yoko Kaneko was being subjected to forced labor and torture and she was in critical
condition. Iga said that they hoped the local authorities would appeal for her rescue and call for

2:20 p.m. on August 14: In order to rescue the Falun Gong practitioner that was arrested in China, a
national car tour came to Miyazaki. In May of 2002, Falun Gong practitioner, Yoko Kaneko, a
38-year-old Chinese national, was arrested in Beijing while distributing truth-clarifying flyers
that exposed the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to a forced labor
camp. Today the national car tour visited the county hall. A member of the travel team said that
they hoped that the nation comes to understand the true situation and launches a national appeal for
