Japan's Miyazaki Daily News: National Car Tour Appeals for the Rescue of a Woman Who Practices Falun Gong

Japan's Miyazaki Daily News reported on August 15 on the appeal for the rescue of Yoko Kaneko (39 years old), a former resident of Niigata county who was arrested by Chinese authorities in May of 2002 for distributing truth-clarifying materials describing the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. Kaneko was arrested in Beijing and has been detained since last year. A national car tour came to Miyazaki county on August 13 and 14 and held activities in front of the Miyazaki department store to appeal for Kaneko's rescue. The team also submitted a written request to the Miyazaki county magistrate and Miyazaki mayor calling for her rescue. One of the automobile team members, Kanae Iga, said that Yoko Kaneko was being subjected to forced labor and torture and she was in critical condition. Iga said that they hoped the local authorities would appeal for her rescue and call for the Japanese government to negotiate with the Chinese government to release Kaneko.
