An Inmate: Dafa Practitioners That I knew

(Clearwisdom.net) I was sentenced to a 10-year prison term because I committed the crime of homicide. I have been imprisoned since December 28, 2002, during which time I have been lucky enough to get acquainted with some Dafa practitioners. Their selflessness and kindness have deeply moved me. I admire them. They work hard and don't complain no matter what they do. Whenever someone encounters difficulties, they offer to help if they can. They are all good persons in the society. Their hearts and their deeds demonstrate that. We all should learn from them.

Previously, when the TV reported that Falun Gong practitioners had done certain things I believed it. But now, after having the chance to know them, I find they are totally different from what the state-run media portrayed. They don't kill people nor do they commit suicide. Committing suicide is viewed as committing a sin by Falun Gong practitioners. I personally witnessed that they don't even kill insects. They are not against the government, and they are not interested in politics. They don't care how other people treat them. They never bad-mouth those who have tortured them. To those government entities and individuals that have persecuted them, they always patiently clarify the truth. To say it in their words, they only want to save the sentient beings and teach people to do good things. It is indeed so. I hold that it would be very nice if everyone in our society could behave like them. There would be so many fewer people committing crimes. How nice it would be if everyone could be self-disciplined, pay attention to morality, and become a person of high moral standards.

Another thing is that they all have respect and loyalty for their Teacher, and hold a righteous belief toward Dafa. They insist on practicing Falun Gong exercises every day. What allows me to admire them most is that if they would only write a letter and give an oral statement that they would give up practicing Falun Gong, they would be released. However, they just don't do that. Just imagine, how many people in the society could reach this standard of integrity? Many people would trade moral integrity for fame and personal interest. It is the reason why I admire Dafa practitioners. I hope there will be more Falun Gong practitioners in our society who strive to become a person with high moral standards. I hope everyone can come to pay attention to moral characteristics, do good deeds, and do well in his/her work. That way, our world will become a wonderful place.

During my imprisonment, the Dafa practitioners never discriminated against me. They helped me understand that I did commit a crime, no matter what my original intention was. They allowed me to understand the true meaning of life. They also helped me in everyday life, giving me daily necessities - clothing and food. What they have done proves that they are true cultivators of a righteous way with high moral standards.

I will remember what they told me, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance are good!"

Note: This article was written several months ago. The author sent it to Dafa practitioners detained together with her and the article was sent out of the prison with some difficulty. The author continues to serve her prison term.
