By a practitioner in China

(Clearwisdom.net) The authorities' brainwashing activities in a few areas in China have become aggressive and rampant again. I believe that one of the reasons is that we have not done enough to fully expose the crimes of "transformation" and those who have helped the criminals after being brainwashed themselves. I feel it is time to face the evil squarely and take action.

To clarify the truth, we need to explain what the so-called "transformation" in China is all about. (It is in fact surprisingly similar to the brainwashing that occurred widely during China's Cultural Revolution.) Why is "transformation" used? (It was because they were jealous and fearful of the Fa-rectification.) How are people transformed? (By violence and deceit. Not being beaten does not mean a person was not persecuted. The cruelest persecution is to destroy one's beliefs and thoughts.) Were people "transformed" voluntarily? (More than 90% of the transformation cases are fake, and most of the people were transformed due to pressure, or were confused because of the deceit. After they became clearheaded, most of them made solemn declarations that what they had said and done under coercion was invalid.) What has happened to those who were voluntarily "transformed"? (They are attached to comfort and have lost their sense of right and wrong, good and bad, and even helped the evil to do terrible things.) Is their "transformation" really being responsible to society, to their families, and to their employers? (They have even abandoned the sense of justice and conscience, and put the future of the society's morality in darkness.) Is what they heard in the brainwashing classes really true? (No. They were lies, twisted logic, and brainwashing by mental control, and confusing right and wrong.)

In particular, when we hear news of fellow practitioners' being taken to brainwashing centers, we should immediately clarify the true nature of the persecution to the practitioners' employers, their local communities and neighborhoods, as well as their families by making phone calls, sending letters or distributing truth-clarifying materials, etc. Master said, "Wherever there's a problem, that is where you need to clarify the truth and save people." ("Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference, 2002") It has happened before that family members of Dafa practitioners helped the evil deceive the practitioners, and cooperated with their employers and policemen to brainwash the practitioners. Some practitioners were repeatedly persecuted by their employers and their street committees. This shows that we didn't clarify the truth well or cooperate well, and we did not complement each other well. In order to do better, practitioners need to post news about what is happening in their local area on Minghui/Clearwisdom, and better still we should include in our reports the addresses of the persecuted practitioners' work units, phone numbers of their superiors at work, their addresses and the work units and names of the police involved. It would be even better if we include names of the policemen's family members and details of their work units.

As for those who have "enlightened along an evil path", in the past we limited ourselves to just exposing them and putting their names on the evil persons' list. In fact, whether they were arranged by the old forces or not, they are victims of the persecution at the level of human world, and Master still leaves a chance open to them. In specific cases, we should also share the responsibility. When we eliminate the evil factors behind them with righteous thoughts, we should actively clarify the truth to them with benevolence, expose the evil deceit that controls them, and awaken them as quickly as possible. In the early stages of their "enlightening" along an evil path, most of them are taken advantage of by the evil due to their fundamental attachments; yet we cannot deny the fact that they still have some good thoughts.

However, due to their strong sentimentality, they were confused and their thoughts became "fake kindness" with evil objectives. Our job is to remove the evil's control over them and provide them with an environment in which they can wake up, and to help them return to the Fa "to truly distinguish what is righteous from evil, good from bad, and eliminate all misconceptions while providing what is correct." ("Lunyu" from Zhuan Falun) May I suggest that fellow practitioners who know the condition and cause of those who "enlightened" along an evil path, put together some questions that would provoke them to think more clearly, and send these to them via various channels to encourage them to find their problems. Because those who "enlightened" along an evil path are only willing to communicate with people who are in the same situation, and some of them have even had their evil way of thinking repeatedly reinforced during their collaboration, they have become very stubborn. In addition, in order to protect themselves, those who were forcibly transformed have taken a defensive position, instead of following Master's instruction "To expose the evil and clarify the truth to those people who are doing the reform work," ("A Suggestion") so their chances of learning the truth are very limited. In daily life, Dafa practitioners usually keep a distance from them, and it seems that in our heart we've already given them up to the evil. This has to some extent helped the evil, and has made it possible for the old forces to take advantage of the loopholes and to control them very tightly. Therefore, to intensively clarify the truth to them is also to intensively eliminate the evil and to make up for the losses in the Fa-rectification. Of course, we have to do this rationally and wisely according to each specific situation, and do it without the attachment of pursuit. It would be better if we do this together as a whole body, or at least send forth righteous thoughts together to help.

In the comment to the article "Expose the Evil Happening Locally to the Local People," (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/11/17/42315.html) Master said, "This approach is extremely effective at shocking and restraining those irrational, wicked people. At the same time, by clarifying the facts to the people on a local level it most directly exposes, and generates public awareness of, the wicked persecution. It is also a great way to save the people who have been poisoned and deceived by the lies. I hope all Dafa disciples and new students in Mainland China will do this well." I believe what we do in relation to "transformation" is also part of Master's requirement.

On the other hand, I think there is another reason for the fact that brainwashing classes in some areas become more aggressive and rampant. That is that some practitioners have not given up their fundamental attachments and still hold strong human notions, which have allowed the rotten substances to continue to stay in their bodies, preventing them from validating the Fa and fulfilling their missions. At the same time, this has also instilled hope in the evil and made them feel that as long as they intensify their running of brainwashing classes, they would have "hope" and would achieve their objective of destroying people. Therefore, in areas where brainwashing classes still exist, if fellow practitioners can clearly see from the Fa perspective the factors behind the "rampant brainwashing classes," and proactively eliminate the rotten substances both in ourselves and in the external surrounding environment, then the brainwashing class, an evil monster, will withdraw from the historical stage and disappear by itself. This will completely and fundamentally disintegrate the brainwashing class.
