Personnel from the "610 Office" in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, Extort Confessions by Torture at a Brainwashing Class

(Clearwisdom.net) Some governmental officials in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City are blinded by greed. Since July 20, 1999, they have arbitrarily arrested Dafa practitioners district-wide. They have summarily sentenced and sent Dafa practitioners to forced labor camps. More than fifty practitioners in this district were arrested, detained, or put into labor camps without proper legal procedure. Dafa practitioners Wang Xueming, Zhao Benyong, Xie Hongmin and others were sentenced to long terms. These greed-driven officials have confiscated Falun Gong practitioners' ID cards, monitored them round the clock and deprived them of their personal freedom. They also indiscriminately tortured practitioners. Personnel from the"610 Office," together with police, have extorted confessions from Falun Gong practitioners by means of torture. They beat and kicked practitioners, used electric batons to shock them, applied handcuffs and all kinds of other forms of physical punishment. An elderly retired lady Shi Lanfang from the Aerospace District and other Falun Gong practitioners were beaten so badly that their faces were covered with blood, their bodies covered with black and blue bruises and they sustained broken fingers and arms.

The financial persecution against Falun Gong practitioners caused just as much injury. Six Falun Gong practitioners were fired from their jobs based on their personal belief. The police abducted many others and ransacked their homes. Their salary or retirement pension was withheld. Some Falun Gong practitioners had all their income cut off and were forced into a destitute life. Young lecturer He Yongming, Yuan Bin, and others were thus forced to leave home and live in exile. The corrupt officials extorted money from practitioners and their families. They confiscated all valuables and smugly fined them several thousand or even ten thousand Yuan. A female Falun Gong practitioner with the last name of Ding from Luodai Town could not afford their "fine," so the corrupt police from the local police station destroyed all the grape vines in her field and her ability to earn a living.

Dozens of practitioners from this district were abducted and taken to a brainwashing class and suffered prolonged torture. Li Jianying from Xinglong Township, Zhu Min from the district's Fiscal Bureau, and others, are still detained in that brainwashing class.

Dafa practitioner Zhang Cifang and her husband are retired officials from the Aerospace 062 Unit. They are kind in nature, honest and upright, and take a keen interest in life. They were both illegally arrested for clarifying the truth of the persecution of Falun Gong to the public. Upon their release from the jail, their retirement pension was suspended. They were later detained in a brainwashing class for three months.

Zhu Dezhen, is a kind-hearted retired teacher from Longquan District's Education Committee. Her entire family suffered persecution for practicing Falun Gong, and their once happy family was destroyed. She and her younger sister and her son and daughter-in-law had their homes ransacked and they were detained by the police. The people from the national security section of the district police department illegally "fined" her son over 10,000 Yuan. The district "610 Office" also instructed her work unit to stop her retirement pension and only pay her basic living expenses. Later her son and daughter-in-law were fired from their jobs at the bank and telecommunication departments, respectively. Her son was twice put into a forced labor camp without trial. She and her sister were put into a brainwashing class on two separate occasions, which lasted for five months.

The spouse of a Falun Gong practitioner from Xuguang Technology Co. Ltd does not practice Falun Gong, but they also suspended his retirement pension as part of a policy of implication since his wife practices. The reason given was that he was responsible for his wife's action, because she practiced Falun Gong.

Let's take a look at the crimes committed by the authorities in Longquan's "610 Office" brainwashing class.

The Political and Judiciary Committee, the "610 Office" and the police department very thoroughly researched all Falun Gong practitioners, and they had reached a consensus that Falun Gong practitioners didn't do anything unlawful, nor did not have any bad habits, yet they still wanted to subject them to brainwashing to force them to renounce their belief. What is the criteria to determine if a practitioner has become "transformed" or not? One of the criteria is if a practitioner will agree to write a "guarantee letter," which means that the practitioner promises not to practice Falun Gong any more; another criteria is if a practitioner starts smoking, drinking and swearing at people. Genuine Dafa practitioners would not do any of these. The authorities even force-fed female practitioners with alcohol. What do they want to transform these kind people into? "Transformation class" is actually an attempt to convert people from being good to being bad.

They claimed to provide "legal education," but they never tell any abducted Falun Gong practitioners what rules they had broken. They sent Falun Gong practitioners into separate rooms, made two assistants monitor them 24 hours a day and broadcast TV propaganda programs that defamed Falun Gong through all sorts of fabrications. They interrogated practitioners for a extended periods of time. If practitioners refuse to cooperate with their requirements and do not renounce their belief, the authorities tie practitioners up, beat them or hold them by the hair and slam their heads against a wall. They also poured cold water on practitioners, provided very little food and deprived practitioners of sleep. They played scores of pornographic and violent videos, and forced those practitioners whom they suspected they could not transform to view them in an effort to psychologically torture them.

In 2002, officials from the "610 Office" spent 220,000 Yuan in three months at a brainwashing class located at Baihe Town's Guoshui Resort. In June 2003, they squandered 420,000 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] in a few months at a brainwashing class located at the Hongyuan Resort. This did not include what they had confiscated from Falun Gong practitioners and what they extorted from practitioners' families. In 2002, all employers of Falun Gong practitioners had to pay 20,000 Yuan per employee per month for the brainwashing class. In 2003, the employers were forced to pay 5,000 to 6,000 Yuan per employed Falun Gong practitioner per month. They not only sent gangs to beat up practitioners, but also ordered them to steal farmers' harvests in the fields at midnight.

Falun Gong practitioners have never committed any crimes. All they have done is told people to be kind. It's those who persecute Falun Gong that are committing crimes.

During the past four years, faced with this Jiang Zemin-ordered persecution and bloody crackdown, kindhearted Dafa practitioners kept clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and exposed the evil deeds of Jiang's political regime. They did so peacefully, rationally and patiently. They hope the public can wake up, and discern between right and wrong. This of course also includes showing those people committing crimes a way to redeem themselves. It is sad that even today some people among them are still stubbornly adhering to committing evil deeds. During a Residential Committee Directors' Conference at the end of November 2003, "610 Office" administrators continued to offer rewards to those who report Falun Gong practitioners. They give a reward of 500 Yuan for each practitioner that is reported to the police.

In the meantime they arrested Falun Gong practitioner Shi Lanfang who posted several Dafa truth-clarifying flyers. On December 8, 2003, they arrested Fan Linpu from Xinmin Village, Luodai Town. In mid-December, they secretly transferred Li Jianying who refused to renounce Falun Gong while in a brainwash class, to another location. Her whereabouts are currently unknown.

The following list of names not only includes heads from the "610 Office"* brainwashing class, but also includes those who have been actively involved in monitoring and arresting Falun Gong practitioners for a long time, and also those policemen and security people who illegally searched practitioners' homes and seized their personal belongings.
