Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Handong of Qichun County, Hubei Province, was arrested in February 2003. Zheng was interrogated and tortured while in detention, and then sentenced to 15 years in prison without proper legal procedures.

Falun Gong practitioner Ding Jiefen is a teacher at the No. 2 Primary School in Xishui County, Hubei Province. At the end of November 2003, while she was working in the school, Xishui County's "610 Office" personnel [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] and the Office of Education teamed up with the Police Security Bureau personnel and illegally took her to the Hubei Province brainwashing center. When she did not return home, her family looked for her everywhere. It is said that the provincial brainwashing center set a quota for every county and city to round up 70 Falun Gong practitioners and force them to undergo brainwashing . The last brainwashing program just ended not long ago.

In the morning of November 13, 2003, officers from the Public Security Bureau, National Security Bureau, "610 Office" and Xicheng City's Local Police Station took Gao Deyuan to a brainwashing center against his will. On the same day, Ms. Liu Guoqiong was also arrested without charge.

The "610 Office" personnel have signed a three-year contract with the Bole Hotel of the Xinlian Machine Factory in Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. The hotel has been turned into a brainwashing center and is detaining many Falun Gong practitioners against their will. The personnel of "610 Office" said that if the practitioners do not renounce their belief in Falun Dafa, they will be detained indefinitely.

It has been reported that the "610 Office" authorities of Loudi City, Hunan Province is in conspiracy with the local police to seize Falun Gong practitioners. The usual methods they employ after the arrest are to immediately threaten practitioners' family members and extort large sums of money from them as a way to enrich themselves. After Dafa practitioner Xiao Zhang was taken away by the police, his family paid over 80,000 yuan [500 yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China] to buy his release from jail after being threatened by the authorities. After turning in such a large sum of money, the authorities did not follow through with Xiao Zhang's release and there was no further response from the relevant personnel at the department. Practitioner Xiao Zhang's family has paid more than 40,000 yuan. It is said that Xiao Zhang is still going to be sentenced. The details of what happened to the money and where it is now are unknown.

Mr. Jiang Jianfeng, 32 years old, from Songyuan City, Jilin Province, was illegally arrested by the National Security Bureau in December 2001. In June 2002, he was sent to the Jiutai Forced Labor Camp for two years without trial. During the detention, he resisted all requests, orders or directives from the authorities with his righteous thoughts and firm belief in Teacher and Dafa. In order to make him compromise his belief, the guards used various torture methods on him, and illegally detained him in the so called "heavy discipline team" the entire time. When the imposed term expired, his term was again arbitrarily extended for another three months.

Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Guiying (74 years old) and Mr. Gao Wancheng (76 years old) resided at Pingquan Road, Changchun City, Jilin Province. Wang Guiying went to Beijing to appeal in 1999. On March 15, 2002, the policemen of the Public Security Bureau mass arrested more than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners. At 3 p.m. on that day, a group of policemen and neighborhood community office personnel rushed into the home of Wang and Gao, illegally seized their belongings and arrested Wang Guiying. That night, she was sent to the Sheling Hospice in the Shuangyang District. She was detained there for nearly a month and suffered from inhuman persecution. Later her family members spent more than 10,000 Yuan; only then she was she released. It caused serious spiritual devastation to the elderly couple. Under the constant pressure and persecution, Gao Wancheng passed away on July 24, 2002. Wang Guiying died on February 4, 2003.

Fan Weihuang is the former director of the instruction department in Shangjie Primary School in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. On the morning of December 15, 2003, Fan Weihuang was arrested in his home by policemen from Guancheng Police Station in Zhengzhou City. Fan's computer, printer and other personal belongings were seized. This arrest is related to Shangjie Dafa practitioner Quan Peijian who has been unlawfully detained in the detention center.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Jianrong of Nongan City, Changchun City, Jilin Province has been secretly detained by the Changchun City Public Security Bureau for one year. She is being detained beyond her original term, which was issued without trial or legal representation. It is said that she has become paralyzed from the torture she was subjected to and is now bedridden and unable to care for herself..

Xu Bin, a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City, Jilin Province, is about 50 years old. He has recently been unlawfully arrested by the Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yanxin was released from the detention center in Xuchang City, Henan Province on December 9, 2003. She was unlawfully sentenced to one year. 'Currently, Xuchang City Detention Center still detains two Falun Gong practitioners: Ms. Mu Kunli and a male practitioner without charge. Mu Kunli has been illegally detained in this detention center for half a year.

Criminals who were formerly incarcerated in the 2^nd Squadron, 2^nd Brigade of Changlei Forced Labor Camp in Weifang City, Shandong Province, and two violent criminals, Tian Weixiang and Zhang Jintao from Qingzhou City, and Liu Chunxiang from Kuiwen District (the leader of 1^st Squadron, 2^nd Brigade) were directed by the guards of the forced labor camp to team up with more than 20 additional regular inmates to torture Falun Gong practitioners with clubs, electric batons, beatings and kicking. On December 15, 2003, he was again illegally arrested by the local police of Luxiang Town, Shuangyang District, Changchun City. The direct perpetrator is policeman Wang Yiheng.

Qin Yabin, the staff of neighborhood community office of Dalianwan 2^nd Electricity Company in Dalian City, Liaoning Province reported Falun Gong practitioner Li Ning to Dalianwan Police Station. The policeman Zhou Xiaofeng led many people to illegally arrest Li Ning, and confiscated all Dafa books. Li Ning was illegally sentenced to "reeducation" through forced labor.

On December 7, 2003, Dafa practitioners Wei Anyu and He Bingying from Jinchang City, Gansu Province were illegally arrested by policemen from the Lanzhou City National Security Bureau while they were handing out Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Lanzhou City. Prior to this, He Bingying was once illegally sent to a forced labor camp. After He was released, this couple had to leave home to avoid further persecution. After the National Security Bureau policemen seized them, another 11 policemen illegally searched the home of He Bingying's mother, who is also a Dafa practitioner, and took away three Falun Dafa exercise music tapes. Currently this couple is being detained in the National Security Bureau, but the details of their situation are unknown.

After Falun Gong practitioner Wu Qiang of Benxi City, Liaoning Province was released from the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, he realized through studying the Falun Dafa teachings that what he did and said in the forced labor camp were not to the standard of Falun Dafa. He was extremely regretful, so he posted his declaration to continue practicing Falun Dafa on telegraph poles. As a result of his actions, he was reported to the municipal bureau. He had to leave home to avoid arrest and later, he was arrested by police when he was making truth-clarifying materials approximately two months ago.

After 10 p.m. on November 27, 2003, the policemen from Changchun City Public Security Bureau and Luyuan District Public Security bureau rushed into Hengguang Area. They broke into the home of Zhang Changgui and searched around. The three people in Zhang's family were illegally taken away. A few policemen waited outside intending to arrest more practitioners.

After 7 a.m. on November 28, 2003, the policemen came to the homes of Ms. Yu Yongjuan and Ms. Chen. The police searched their homes and illegally arrested them.

Dafa practitioner Zhao Wenhua is 68 years old. She was taking care of her husband in the hospital. The police went to her daughter's workplace and brought her to replace Zhao Wenhua at the hospital, then they took Zhao home. They searched her home without a warrant and arrested her without charge.

Shanghai Falun Gong practitioner Zhu Jianyun was illegally captured in mid October 2003 when she was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong. She is still being detained as of now.

Liaoning Province Shenyang City Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Shunkang is in his fifties and resides at No. 72 Jingong Street in the Tiexi District. In the afternoon of December 13, 2003, when he was handing out Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials, he was reported and followed. At 7 p.m. on Sunday December 14, the police ransacked his home. He is now being held at the Shenyang No. 2 Detention Center.

It is said that on October 31, 2003, the municipal party committee of Beipiao City, Liaoning Province convened the 5^th expanded congress meeting. Liu Ziyu, the secretary of the party committee and Mayor Xiao Jianhui both mentioned Falun Gong in their reports. Therefore, on November 14, the political and judiciary secretary Li Mingfang called in relevant departments to meet in the boardroom of the municipal justice bureau to discuss how to carry out and deploy their campaign of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.

On November 28, 2003, she was arrested by two plain-clothes police wearing glasses on a street in Longfeng. It is said that these two police are from Longan Police Station. She has now been detained for more than 2 weeks. According to the disclosed news, Bai Xiuli from the national protection unit of Longfeng Public Security bureau will not agree to release her.
