(Clearwisdom.net) In December 2000, five female Falun Gong practitioners from Tongliang County, Chongqing City were arrested unconstitutionally for passing out materials that clarified the facts about Dafa and the persecution. The practitioners were Peng Dongjun, Liu Taiping, Gong Debi, Wu Gongbi, and Peng Wenbi. Additionally, Their homes were ransacked.

On January 16, 2001, authorities from Tongliang County held a so-called "public trial" of the five practitioners. Using a method to publically demonize the practitioners that was popular during the Cultural Revolution, the authorities hung a plaque with the words "Falun Gong elements" around each practitioner's neck and paraded them through the streets in order to incite hatred against them. That month, they were sentenced to forced labor camps, with Liu Taiping and Wu Gongbi sentenced to two years each, Peng Wenbi one year, Gong Debi three years, and Peng Dongjun four years.

55-year-old Peng Dongjun lived in the Datian area of Anju Town, Tongliang County. She used to be a contractor with the Commerce Bureau. On January 21, 2000, she, along with practitioners Liu Yingfu, Long Gang, and Tan Zongqun went to Beijing to appeal. Liu An from the local "610 Office" ordered the police department chief, Chen Wen, to lead several people to Beijing and seize them. They took the practitioners back to Tongliang County. While interrogating Peng, Chen Wen used a wire to whip her feet, leaving a gash in her flesh. He kept cursing at Peng, claiming he would beat them all to death. He hit her head with his hands. He did not allow her to have any food or water and continued interrogating her. Peng was put in handcuffs and shackles that weighed 15 kg. She wasn't released until one month later. After she returned home, her work unit fired her for her peaceful appeal in Beijing.
