Boston: Practitioners Hold Candlelight Vigil in Front of Holocaust Monument to Commemorate Liu Chengjun (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Upon hearing the death of Liu Chengjun, one of the key participants of Changchun Cable TV Tapping, Boston practitioners gathered in front of the Holocaust Monument in Downtown Boston. Practitioners lit candles to commemorate this hero and expose the truth of Jiang regime's persecution against Falun Gong. They also called on punishment for Jiang Zemin and the murderers of Liu Chengjun.

New England Holocaust Monument was built with the initiation of some holocaust survivors. The purpose is to help people remember that dark period in history and prevent it from happening again. Among all the reflections, the most famous is the phrase by Pastor Martin Niemoeller: "First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists, but I was neither, so I did not speak out. Then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew so I did not speak out. And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."

Though the regret of yesterday is still lingering, many people are indifferent to this vicious persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. One major reason is that the Jiang regime has been controlling all the media in China and even some media overseas to run lies against Falun Gong to deceive the public and instigate hatred against Falun Gong and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance."

In order to let people know the truth about Falun Gong and Jiang regime's brutal persecution, on March 5, 2002, Liu Chengjun and other practitioners tapped into Changchun cable TV network to broadcast programs exposing the atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners in China and Jiang's attempts to cover them up. This incident shocked China and abroad, many people thus learned the truth about Falun Gong.

Sources in Beijing reported that the broadcasts infuriated then-Chinese leader Jiang, who subsequently ordered a series of executions targeting all persons involved in the broadcast and other practitioners of Falun Gong throughout China. To date, for being involved in the TV tapping incident, at least 8 practitioners have been tortured to death and 5,000 more have been arrested. Mr. Liu was arrest in March 2002. He passed away on December 26, 2003 after 21 months of torture and abuse.

Today, we come to the Holocaust Monument to commemorate Liu Chengjun. What he has done was of great compassion and forbearance as well as great wisdom and courage. He used his life to expose Jiang's vicious lies that are attacking the root of human morality. Mr. Liu gave people a chance to learn the truth about Falun Gong thus an opportunity to choose their own future.

At the same time, we won't forget that many Falun Gong practitioners are still in a harsh situation. According to a report on October 26 by a Clearwisdom reporter in China, Jilin Prison at that time had more than 100 Falun Gong practitioners who were on hunger strike to protest the brutal persecution imposed on them and all Falun Gong practitioners. The situation was urgent as many lives were at stake. It was confirmed at that same period that Liu Chengjun was in critical condition. Now, Liu Chengjun has been tortured to death, the situation of the 100 plus practitioners in Jilin Prison is of great concern.

We hope more kind-hearted people will come to learn the truth about Falun Gong and work with us jointly to end this brutal persecution as soon as possible.
