San Antonio: Falun Gong Practitioners Attend Martin Luther King, Jr. March (Photos)
By practitioners from Texas
(Clearwisdom.net, January 25, 2004) On January 19, 2004, Falun Gong
practitioners from San Antonio and Austin participated in Martin Luther King,
Jr. Day March and rally in San Antonio. The march's local theme was
"struggle for peace through non-violence." The annual MLK march is one of the grandest parades in San Antonio. This
year, over 50,000 people from a range of ages and races participated in the
march. The sponsor expressed that San Antonio citizens and other American people
love freedom and support human rights. Falun Gong practitioners attended this parade three years ago and were well
received. In this year's parade, practitioners unfurled banners that read,
"Truth-Compassion-Tolerance" and "China, Stop Persecuting Falun
Gong," which were very eye-catching in the walking group processions. Both sides of the 10-mile-long route were crowded with people. They were very
happy to take practitioners' truth-clarifying materials. Many people actively
asked for the materials and they longed for learning about the truth of Falun
Gong. Many residents learned from different channels about Falun Gong and the
persecution it encountered in China. They supported practitioners' efforts. Some
people wanted to learn the Falun Gong exercises after they heard about Falun
Gong, but they were unable to contact practitioners. This time, they met
practitioners in the march and were especially happy.
