Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Xuelian, 40, from Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, had remained in extremely weak condition ever since her release from forced labor in November 2002. She also suffered from high blood pressure and heart problems. Ms. Li died at the end of December 2003 from kidney failure. Details are still under investigation.

One morning in July 2003, a banner reading "Falun Dafa Is a Righteous Way" was put up on a high-voltage wire in the Hongyuan Economic Development Zone in Jilin City, Jilin Province. Residents and passersby gathered under the banner and couldn't help saying, "How could Falun Gong practitioners place the banner so high. It's truly inconceivable." Several local officials and police officers showed up and asked, "Who did this? Does anyone who practices Falun Gong live in the neighborhood?" The crowd told the police they knew nothing about Falun Gong practitioners. The police then went into a take-out food store for investigation. Later the owner of the store told me that he wouldn't have told the police anything even if he had known about Falun Gong practitioners.

More than six months later, the banner remains hanging, revealing the magnificence of Falun Dafa to all passing by.

Liu Huitao is a female officer at the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. Once when she found Falun Gong practitioners were reciting Teacher's poems, she ordered inmates to tie practitioners up to trees. Practitioners were exposed to the frigid winter air for three or four hours, and as a result, their arms turned numb. Liu then ordered the inmates to strip off practitioner's cotton insulated coats. Some practitioners were beaten until they were barely conscious and left outdoors in freezing temperatures. Some couldn't wake up till the next day after being carried indoors in the evening. Other police officers threw practitioners' clothes into cess pits containing human waste. Liu Huitao also ordered inmates to beat practitioners with ropes and clubs. Inmate Liu Liying, female, hit practitioners across the face with electric batons. Some practitioners' buttocks were bruised and their faces swollen. Liu also ordered the practitioners to recite labor camp rules.

June 25, 2001, marked the beginning of a new round of brainwashing. Anyone who refused to accept their brainwashing was deprived of sleep. Practitioners were ordered to stand facing a wall for 48 hours straight. They were also forced to watch tapes of the staged "self-immolation" incident. Anytime a practitioner dozed off, police officers would beat her to wake her up. There was one time when practitioners were passing Teacher's articles and were spotted by an inmate. The inmate informed the head of the brigade and was rewarded with a reduction in his forced labor terms. Wei Qun, an officer at the labor camp, slapped the practitioner who had the article right away. Wei then called for a male officer to keep beating the practitioner with an electric baton till she passed out.

After the exposure of police torture and forced-feeding of Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Wenfang in the Linquan County Detention Center by the Clearwisdom.net website, leaders of the police department, procuratorate, and court in the Fuyang area have received numerous phone calls from practitioners from various areas. Some of the phone calls were made by practitioners overseas, which have sent shock waves through the area. Lawless officials have never dreamed about the fact that their brutality has been documented and circulated outside the country. They have panicked.

Qi Chenggang, head of the Fuyang City Political and Judiciary Committee and the "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems], was angered and intimidated at the same time. He has ordered to secretly transfer Ms. Fan Wenfang to the Fuyang City Detention Center. He has also been pressuring the court to hasten its pace in sentencing Ms. Fan and thirteen other Falun Dafa practitioners who were unlawfully put on trial on December 3, 2003 so these practitioners could be sent away. According to internal sources, under the instigation of the "610 Office," the court will soon unlawfully issue sentencing on the fourteen Falun Dafa practitioners.

On December 22, 2003, the Lubei District Court in Tangshan City, Hebei Province unlawfully sentenced to jail Falun Dafa practitioners Guo Xiaohui, Zhang Yunping, An Zhenjie, Sun Jianzhong, Han Xueyu, and Zhang Jinlu. Guo Xiaohui and Zhang Yunping received unlawful prison terms of 8 years; An Zhenjie, Sun Jianzhong and Han Xueyu 7 years; and Zhang Jinlu 3 years. All six practitioners have appealed to the sentencing.

On December 10, 2003, World Human Rights Day, Falun Dafa practitioners Zhang Zhenmin and Yang Qingru each received harsh and unlawful sentencing of eight years from the Chengguan District Court in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province.

In addition, the Graduate School of Lanzhou University has demanded its Ph.D. program applicants to make statements that they have never been associated with Falun Gong in a throwback to the dark days of the Cultural Revolution. We hope that Lanzhou University will reverse this action and stop persecuting Falun Gong.

1) On the evening of December 25, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioners Meng Qingcai, Song Weiyuan, Su Shushan, and Wang had a discussion at Su Shushan's home, which is located in the Seafood Company on Xiuling Road in Nanning City, Guangxi. When they were walking down the stairs, a group of security people rushed over and abducted them. The group was made up of members of the State Security Brigade in Chengbei District in Nanning City with some people who came from Qingzhou City. Su's home was then ransacked. CD's with Falun Gong truth-clarifying documents were confiscated. The practitioners were charged with several counts of "illegal gathering," "disturbing social order," etc and taken into custody. Su has been held in the detention center while it's not clear where other practitioners are being held. According to neighbors, from the day of abduction till December 29, they saw Song Weiyuan was escorted back everyday bare-footed [by guards who presumably were in search of more materials].

2) On December 4, 2003, Falun Dafa practitioner Gu, over 60 years old, from Pumiao in Yining County, Guangxi was abducted while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Gu's home was ransacked, and Falun Dafa books and other materials were taken away. Later Gu was unlawfully sentenced to one and half years of forced labor.

3) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lu Guanxiang works at the Huahong Cement Company Ltd. in Guangxi. She was unlawfully arrested when distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials away in Nanning City. Her home was ransacked, and a photocopy machine and other materials taken away. It has been reported that she has been unlawfully sentenced to 17 years in prison.

4) It has been recently confirmed that Falun Gong practitioner Tan Shangfeng from the Yining County Water and Electric Bureau was arrested. The telephone number of Tan's workplace is 86-771-4717209.

Ms. Wu Yongmei is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Tongnan County, Chongqing. On December 23, 2003, she was arrested by the Tongnan County "610 Office" and the State Security Brigade led by brigade head Zhang Liang. She was tortured and later sent to the Tongnan County Hospital for rescue. Ms. Wu's four year old daughter was also taken into police custody. The little girl's whereabouts are unknown.

Falun Dafa practitioners Xu Yungui and his wife Guo Shiming, from the Chaoyang District in Changchun City, Jilin Province were unlawfully arrested in mid-November 2003 and sent to forced labor camps. Both of them are over 60 years old. Currently Ms. Guo is being unlawfully held in the No. 5 Brigade in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, and Mr. Xu in the so-called "New-Life" Brigade in the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

In July 2001, Beijing police unlawfully arrested seven Falun Gong practitioners who were from Boxing County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province. Hu Bingshan, then Party Secretary of Boxing County (currently a member of the Binzhou City Party Committee, Party Secretary of Zhong District) took 500,000 yuan from the county finance bureau and asked a police officer (whose hometown is Yanfang Town, Boxing County) in Fengtai District, Beijing, to bribe leaders of the Beijing police force so the capture of Falun Gong practitioners from Boxing County would not be reported to higher authorities and Hu could retain his position in the Party hierarchy. [500 yuan is the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.] At the same time, he sent out people to escort the seven practitioners back to Boxing County for persecution. It has been learned that another 300,000 yuan had been spent by Hu as bribery to Beijing police prior to this event.

During Hu's tenure as Boxing County Party Secretary, he was active in following Jiang's order to persecute Falun Dafa practitioners. Numerous Falun Dafa practitioners in the county had been unlawfully sentenced to prison, sent to forced labor camps, detained, and had heavy cash fines extorted from them.

Bian Shuqiang, Zhang Li, and Dong are in charge of the No. 202 Regiment at the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province. They intercepted letters sent to and from Falun Dafa practitioners, blatantly depriving individual rights and freedom of speech. They have engaged in an 18-day torture campaign that deprived practitioners of sleep. In addition, they burned practitioners' bodies with charged electric batons, forced practitioners to write the "four statements" [renouncing Falun Gong]. They also showed videotapes defaming Falun Dafa and its founder around the clock.

Since January 2, 2004, sites where Falun Gong materials were kept have been sabotaged to various degrees in Zaoqiang County, Gucheng County, and Jing County. Hengshui police broke into homes and placed Falun Dafa practitioners under arrest at will. The damage in Zaoqiang County was especially severe. Some practitioners could not handle it well after being captured and implicated other practitioners, which has resulted in further damages in a wider area.

Chai Guohong is the head of the Intensive Training Brigade in the Beijing Women's Forced Labor Camp. Li Xiuying is the deputy head. Their approaches to torturing Falun Dafa practitioners include: brutal beatings, deprivation of sleep, washing, and meals, denial of visits from family members, lock up in isolation, and unlawful extension of forced labor terms. Besides beating practitioners themselves, the two have also frequently ordered inmates on drug charges to viciously beat practitioners with the promise of reducing their forced labor terms.

I witnessed Li Xiuying grabbing Falun Dafa practitioner Chen Fengxian's hand to scribble on a pre-drafted sheet. Li then claimed, "You have signed your name, and your Master will no longer consider you a practitioner." Chen replied, "Master knows I haven't signed my name." Li was so angry that she deprived Chen of food for four days and nights.

Ms. Ren Guoxian has a master's degree and had been unlawfully held in the forced labor camp twice in the past. She has been sent into the Intensive Training Brigade for persecution. However, she has been holding up her belief and carrying out righteous deeds. Police officers have run out of methods to use against her.

It has been reported that Liaoning provincial authorities have issued orders to all neighborhood administration offices and "610 Offices" to form so-called "leadership groups" headed up by Party secretary and deputy-Party secretary of each neighborhood administrative office. The "leadership groups" are responsible for sending out people to spread lies about Falun Gong among peasants during the less busy season. The scheduled period is from January 5, 2004 to February 21, 2004. Details of the defamation include fabricated lies, charts, and VCD's to be shown door to door, village by village.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Minghui from Ningguo City, Anhui Province was again placed under unlawful arrest on December 17, 2003. She was then unlawfully sent to the Hefei Women's Forced Labor Camp serving a three-year term. In October 2003, she was detained for a month after informants turned her in to the police. She thwarted with righteous thoughts the police attempt to sabotage the site where Falun Gong materials were kept. The police had to set her free as they could not extract any information from her. Two months later, the police suddenly showed up at her door and took her to the forced labor camp.

Wang Guang is the director of the neighborhood security committee at Ningyuanbao Village in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province. Wang has been ordering his subordinates to stake out and abduct Falun Dafa practitioners who distributed Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in the village. Practitioners caught by Wang were sent to local police stations. During the season of SARS epidemic in 2003, Wang Guang staked out by himself and sabotaged a site where Falun Gong materials were kept. Practitioners lost almost 100,000 Yuan in materials and equipment. Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yang Yufang died from subsequent persecution. Several other practitioners were unlawfully arrested, tortured and sentenced to jail.

Falun Dafa practitioner Yang Yufang was from Dongyaozi Village at Dongyaozi Township in Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province.

Ms. Yang Zhenxiang, 61, is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Huaikou Town, Jintang County, Sichuan Province. She lives at the Sanyan Storage House in a retail outlet in Huaikou Town. She has been practicing Falun Dafa ever since encountering it in May 1996. She has benefited immensely physically and mentally. After the start of suppression of Falun Gong on July 22, 1999, she has been to Beijing twice to validate Falun Dafa. She was sent back to the Jintang County Police Department and suffered from all sorts of torture in the detention center. Her home was ransacked and placed under surveillance. She was also extorted a cash fine from her.

At 10:30 pm on December 16, 2003, Ms. Yang and her husband were resting at home. Five thugs broke in and ransacked their home. They did not find what they came after but abducted Ms. Yang anyway. Her whereabouts remains unknown.

Mr. Zhang Taiwei is a veteran of second-degree handicap. After practicing Falun Gong, his health has significantly improved. He browsed the Chinese Clearwisdom.net site a couple of times, and as a result, the Yinan County "610 Office" in Linyi City unlawfully took him into custody and sent him to the Linyi Brainwashing Center. Five other practitioners in Yinan County have also been abducted, including Ms. Gong Pixiang, Ms. Xu Zhiju, and Mr. Wang Zhongshan. Ms. Gong once managed to get out of police custody in Mengyin with righteous thoughts even though both of her hands were handcuffed. Later the police demanded 50 Yuan from her husband to pay for the handcuffs. Ms. Gong stayed away from Mengyin by working on odd jobs in the county seat of Yinan County. This time she was unlawfully taken into police custody again. It has been reported that she is to be sent back to Mengyin. Leaders of the Linyi City "610 Office" have scolded Yinan County officials for being too lenient in handling Falun Dafa practitioners. And Yinan County authorities have since escalated the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners, and over a dozen more practitioners were abducted.

Two middle school students turned me in to the police when I was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials at the end of March 2001. I was unlawfully kept in the detention center of the Xuanwu Branch of Beijing Police Department. In the detention center, police officer Si Wensheng brutally beat those of us who refused to give out our names. He further threatened to strip us naked and throw us into male cells to be raped. We staged hunger strike to protest the unlawful detention. He smalled steamed buns into our faces and then pulled out our hair and smashed our heads against the wall. A cellmate and an elderly police officer told us that Si Wensheng was particularly cruel and vicious. Once he threw a pickle jar filled with boiling water at a practitioner's head. Blood gushed out of the practitioner's head right away and she had to be sent to the hospital. According to other inmates the practitioner was injured so severely that authorities were worried about her serious condition and released her in three days. Prior to this incident, two practitioners died from police brutality. One practitioner was a man, and one woman. Their names are unknown.
