Chengjun On December 31, 2003, Singapore Falun Gong practitioners held a press
conference to commemorate Liu Chengjun and seven other Falun Gong practitioners
in China, the pioneers of intercepting cable TV signals to broadcast the facts
of the persecution in Changchun. Hearing upon the news that Liu Chengjun was tortured to death after suffering
21 months in jail, Singapore Dafa practitioners were greatly saddened. The
Singapore Falun Dafa Association wrote to the Chinese Embassy to strongly demand
punishment for the murderers and the chief culprit Jiang Zemin. In the letter,
the practitioners explained the facts to Embassy staff and asked them not to
cooperate with the evil. The practitioners made an elegiac couplet on the same night, on which the
following words were written: "Righteous interception to spread the facts moves
heaven and earth, died from brutal persecution but awakened consciences." In order to tell the public about the facts of the Jiang regime's persecution
against Falun Gong, on March 5, 2002, Liu Chengjun and other practitioners
tapped into Changchun's cable TV network to broadcast programs exposing the
atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners in China and Jiang's attempts to
cover them up. This amazing event allowed many people to learn the truth. Jiang
Zemin was infuriated and ordered a series of executions, targeting all persons
involved in the broadcast and other practitioners of Falun Gong throughout
China. Jilin Province then arrested more than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners.
Among them, at least 8 practitioners have been tortured to death, and 15 have
been sentenced to 4 to 20 years in prison. Mr. Liu was arrested in March 2002.
He had gone through all types of torture. He passed away on December 26, 2003
after 21 months of torture and abuse. In the memorial service, spokeswoman Ms. Wang talked about how Liu Chengjun
was tortured to death. She discussed the reasons and validity of Falun Gong
practitioners' interception of TV signals in China and demanded punishment for
the murderers. She also called on people to pay attention to the plight of tens
of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners being imprisoned in China. At last she appealed, "Today, we, Singapore Falun Gong practitioners and
worldwide Falun Gong fellow practitioners, call on the Singapore Government,
media and citizens to pay close attention to the killing of Falun Gong
practitioners in China, and with your conscience, courage, rationality and
wisdom support the righteous actions of Falun Gong practitioners in exposing the
persecution." After viewing the two programs that Liu Chengjun and others broadcasted at
the cost of their lives, Falun Dafa Spreads Worldwide and

hands in front of their chest to say good-bye to the eight practitioners,

Before New Year's Eve, Falun Gong practitioners prepared banners and
materials, and gathered in front of General Consulate to commemorate Liu
Chengjun and to demand punishment for Jiang Zemin. Many passers-by saw our banners commemorating Liu Chengjun and calling for
bringing Jiang to justice. Some passers-by carefully read the banners and asked
for more information from the practitioners. The practitioners talked about what
Falun Gong was and the terrible persecution in China. After hearing the
explanation, one Westerner who didn't know about Falun Gong but planned to visit
China said that he would explain the facts to people if asked. The practitioners said that they hoped to call on more kind-hearted people to
help stop the brutal persecution and bring Jiang Zemin to justice as soon as
possible. Ireland Dafa practitioners hold press

justice On December 30, 2003, Ireland Falun Gong practitioners held a press
conference in front of the Chinese Embassy to commemorate Liu Chengjun and
demand punishment of the murderers involved, and bring Jiang Zemin to justice.
While answering questions from reporters, Zhao Ming, a graduate student in
Trinity University who suffered for 22 months in Beijing Tuanhe Labor Camp,
said, "In the campaigns of persecution in Chinese history, such as the Cultural
Revolution, malicious propaganda instigated hate, as well as killing and
fighting. Many people were killed as a result but did not stand up to expose and
oppose it. Today, Falun Gong practitioners, a prime example being Liu Chengjun,
through interception of TV signals broadcasted and exposed the persecution of
Falun Gong. Their heroic actions are safeguarding the rights endowed by the
Chinese Constitution. Their actions will be recorded by history. So I think
today our commemoration of Liu Chengjun is meaningful and history will remember
Mr. Liu." Two major Irish media outlets covered the event. Sydney Falun Gong practitioners hold press
conference at the end of the year in front of Chinese Consulate On the afternoon of the last day of 2003, Sydney Falun Gong practitioners
held a press conference in front of Chinese Consulate to commemorate Liu
Chengjun and call for bringing Jiang and others responsible to justice. Mr. Yao of World Organization to
Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong Australia Branch Local practitioner Kay introduced Liu Chengjun's interception of cable TV
signals and broadcast of the facts of the Falun Gong and the persecution. Mr. Yao of the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun
Gong Australia Branch read out the urgent investigation report released on
December 29 about the death case of Liu Chengjun. The organization said that it
would investigate further and find out persons responsible for the case, and
seek to bring them to justice. Li Ying was released from a labor camp in China a little over a month ago.
Her fiancé returned to China and brought her to Australia with the help of the
Australian government and Australian Consulate in Shanghai. In the press
conference, she said that she felt deep sorrow for the death of another Dafa
practitioner. She said that she was very fortunate to be able to practice Falun
Gong freely. A reporter asked her, "On the last day in 2003, standing in front of the
Chinese Consulate, what do you want to say most?" She answered, "I wish that
today were the last day of the persecution and killing, and the beginning of a
new life for everyone." When asked about her wish for the New Year, she said, "I
wish that everyone will be able to enjoy real freedom. I also wish that Chinese
government would reconsider how to deal with Falun Gong. Falun Gong
practitioners are very kind, but many of them are persecuted to the point of
being handicapped and even to death. This should not be allowed to happen." The press conference attracted the attention of passers-by and Chinese people
who came to the consulate for business. Many stopped to look and ask for
information. Munich Dafa practitioners hold demonstration
in front of Chinese Consulate and commemorate Liu Chengjun in the snow On the last day of 2003, snow covered Munich. Falun Gong practitioners
gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate to commemorate Falun Gong
practitioner Liu Chengjun, call for punishment for those responsible and expose
the Jiang regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong.
The practitioners said, "The net of justice is extensive. All of those
responsible for persecuting Liu Chengjun will be brought to justice. Forty Falun
Gong practitioners have filed a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin in the German
Supreme Court for genocide, torture, and murder. The World Organization to
Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong issued an urgent investigation
announcement. Jiang Zemin and his associates will be brought to justice." Los Angeles Dafa practitioners commemorate
Liu Chengjun in front of Chinese Consulate and demand punishment for the killers At 11am on December 31, Los Angeles practitioners rallied in front of Chinese
consulate to mourn for Liu Chengjun and demand punishment for persons
responsible for Liu's death.
Falun Gong practitioner Yingnian Wu, a professor at the University of
California at Los Angeles, said that people don't need to tap into TV networks
to voice their concern if one is allowed to speak out freely. However, under
Jiang Zemin's persecution, Falun Gong practitioners would be for sure arrested,
sentenced to prison, sent to labor camp, or even tortured if they go to appeal.
In China, Falun Gong practitioners have no opportunity or any channel to speak
out. On the contrary, state-run TV stations broadcast Jiang's lies, slandering
Falun Gong everyday. Under this circumstance, tapping into TV network to
broadcast truth-clarifying programs is a courageous move to protect people's
right to know and the public's interest. Professor Wu also pointed out that it
would be very dangerous if the media becomes a tool utilized by dictators to
deceive people. The spread of SARS is a good lesson of this kind. Falun Gong practitioner Ke Ye, PhD candidate at the University of Southern
California, said that the information broadcasted by Liu Chengchun has been
widely reported by overseas media and acknowledged. However, in China, Falun
Gong practitioners have to risk their lives and use the manner of tapping into
TV network to tell the public this information. He said that the death of Liu
Chengjun again reflected the distorted and desperate mentality of Jiang, who
fears so much that the public learns the truth of his persecution. Mr. Ye called
on the current Chinese leaders to take the courage and responsibility to bring
Jiang Zemin and murderers of Liu Chengjun to justice. Mr. Qu is a scholar at the California Institute of Technology, and he was
arrested when he visited China. He shared that experience and said that Jiang
Zemin never abides by the law during his persecution against Falun Gong. For
him, the law is just a tool, which can be manipulated at will to persecute Falun
Gong. Nowadays, it is legal in China to spread lies and instigate hatred, while
peaceful appeal to dissipate lies and hatred is illegal. It is ridiculous. He
said that the actions of Liu Chengjun and other practitioners under such an
extreme situation were righteous actions. He called on the public to come to
learn more about Falun Gong and help stop the persecution against Falun Gong
practitioners.
