Support And Opposition In a Detention Center

(Clearwisdom.net) I was illegally detained for practicing Falun Gong. I was originally detained in Prison Cell Number 1 and after a few days they took me to Prison Cell Number 6. During the time I was in Prison Cell 1, I clarified the truth of Falun Gong to the female prisoners there. After I was taken to Cell 6, a prisoner in Cell 1 asked someone to ask me to write down a few of Teachers' articles for her, saying she would like to recite Hong Yin. I wrote the poem on a cigarette package and a male prisoner was willing to deliver it. However, a prison guard discovered this and interrogated him, trying to find the origin of the paper. The male prisoner told him that he had accidentally picked it up. As a result he was beaten so badly that he was not able to walk properly. Finally a prisoner helped to pass along a few poems from Hong Yin.

When we went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution against us, the prison guards wanted both male and female prisoners to hold us down to keep us from moving while we were being force-fed. Not one prisoner followed their instructions; they all sympathized with us Falun Dafa practitioners. None of the female prisoners in my prison cell went along with the prison guards.

I began practicing Falun Dafa in April 1999. I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in November 2000 and was detained at the Harbin Liaison Office in Beijing. We spread the Fa [law and principles] on the train on our way back to Harbin. The police would not allow us to talk and threatened to handcuff us. However, the police did not dare handcuff practitioners when they learned that we would shout when officers tried to handcuff us. The police took us to the local police station. They made us stand there without giving us any food. They searched us and took all the money we had. At last they took us to the detention center where we continued to spread the Fa.

I feel very ashamed when I look back, as some practitioners took the initiative and actually looked for police officers to clarify the truth to, while I just talked about it when the police officers came to me. Comparatively, there was a big gap between the level of my xinxing (mind or heart-nature, moral character) and that of those other practitioners. When the authorities began to try to "reform" us [to make us renounce Falun Gong], we continuously recited the Fa and were steadfast in our righteous thoughts. In the detention center, the prison guards used all kinds of methods to force Falun Gong practitioners to abandon cultivation. When Dafa practitioners gave up attachments to life and death from the bottom of their hearts, they found that all the wicked means of the prison guards were useless.

When I was in the detention center, police officer Yang searched and ransacked my house; he robbed me of all my money and grabbed anything that was of value. When I returned from the detention center, the authorities began to ask me to sign a guarantee letter [to renounce Falun gong], but I refused every time. Later, I had to leave home to avoid further persecution. I came to a city in Inner Mongolia where I clarified the truth and spread the Fa. I was detained there by the local police and sent to a detention center. Through our spreading of the Fa, many prisoners have learned the truth about Falun Gong and the persecution.
