At 3 pm on December 30, 2003, British Falun Dafa practitioners held a press conference across from the Chinese Embassy to commemorate Mr. Liu Chengjun, who was tortured to death in China for intercepting TV signals to clarify the truth. They also called on the Chinese Government to immediately investigate and punish the killers and end the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

In order to tell the public the facts of the Jiang regime's persecution against Falun Gong, on March 5, 2002, Liu Chengjun and other practitioners tapped into Changchun's cable TV network to broadcast programs exposing the atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners in China and Jiang's attempts to cover them up. This amazing event allowed many people to learn the truth. Jiang Zemin was infuriated and ordered a series of executions, targeting all persons involved in the broadcast and other practitioners of Falun Gong throughout China. Jilin Province authorities then arrested more than 5,000 Falun Gong practitioners. Among them, at least 8 practitioners have been tortured to death, and 15 have been sentenced to 4 to 20 years in prison. Mr. Liu was arrested in March 2002. He had gone through all types of torture. He passed away on December 26, 2003 after 21 months of torture and abuse.

The press conference was organized by Peter Jauhal, Chairman of British Falun Dafa Association. Several practitioners held photos of Liu Chengjun and others unfurled banners demanding an end of the persecution.

A representative of the British Falun Dafa Association first read a statement which strongly condemns the Jiang regime's new round of killing Falun Gong practitioners and demands that the Chinese Government punish the killers and other persons responsible for the death and bring Jiang Zemin and his associates to justice. A Dafa practitioner then read an open letter from the Global Coalition to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners Persecuted in China about the death of Liu Chengjun. In the letter the association also called on the government and people of all countries and international organizations to act together to stop the genocide occurring in China.

UK Lord Thurlow, a 91-year-old former UK Senior Diplomat, gave a speech and expressed respect and praise for Liu Chengjun and other practitioners who participated in the interception of TV signals to clarify the truth. He praised them as heroes for sacrificing their lives for the freedom of belief. He pointed out that the tragedy again let people know about the Jiang regime's brutal and inhumane persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

After hearing the news about the death of Liu Chengjun, Texas Falun Gong practitioners from Austin, San Antonio, and Houston gathered in front of the State Capitol on the evening of December 31, 2003 to commemorate Liu Chengjun and demand punishment of the killers and Jiang Zemin, as well as the immediate release of Charles Li. The capitol is one of the main tourist attractions in Austin and many visitors and passers-by accepted truth-clarification flyers to learn the truth of the persecution.

The major Newspaper in Austin covered the event. A local resident specially came to support the event after learning the news from the newspaper and helped to hold the banner on which was written, "Punish Killers and Changchun Police Responsible for the Death of Liu Chengjun".

After hearing that another Dafa practitioner, Liu Chengjun, was tortured to death on December 26, 2003, Falun Gong practitioners from Tainan, Taiwan and the Global Coalition to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners Taiwan Branch held a candlelight vigil on January 1, 2004 to commemorate Changchun Dafa practitioner Liu Chengjun.

During the candlelight vigil, Taiwan practitioners held white candles in hand, which not only expressed their silent demonstration but also commended the righteous thoughts and actions of Liu Chengjun in intercepting TV signals to expose Jiang's lies. Besides distributing flyers to passers-by, artist Zhang Cuiying and Taiwan Falun Gong practitioner Lin Hsiaokai talked about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and called on the Chinese Government to stop the inhumane persecution, punish the killers and bring Jiang and his associates to justice.

Later, practitioners read news of how Liu Chengjun was tortured to death, an open letter from Global Coalition to Rescue Falun Gong Practitioners to Chinese worldwide, statements to condemn the Jiang regime's cover up and false news to twist the truth of Mr. Liu's death, and strongly demand punishment of the killers and Jiang Zemin.

At the conclusion of the event, the practitioners sang the song, "Falun Dafa is Good" to demonstrate the gracefulness of Dafa to passers-by.

On the first night of 2004, Saipan Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil to commemorate fellow practitioner Liu Chengjun, who was tortured to death by Jiang's regime for intercepting TV signals to clarify the truth. The vigil was held in front of the Department of Justice and Supreme Court to call for bringing those persons responsible for the death of Mr. Liu to justice. They also displayed a banner with information about global trial of Jiang Zemin. The brutal persecution initiated by Jiang due to his personal jealousy has resulted in the deaths of at least 852 Falun Gong practitioners. Jiang Zemin must be punished for his crimes. The candlelight vigil was to call on people to pay attention to and help end the persecution as soon as possible.
