In order to expose the evil, break through the information blockade, allow the public to learn the truth about Falun Dafa, awaken people's conscience and save the people, Dafa practitioner Liu Chengjun and several other practitioners from Jilin Province, tapped into cable TV network in Changchun City on March 5, 2002 to broadcast Falun Gong truth-clarifying programs, including "Falun Dafa Around the World" and "Self-Immolation or Staged Event." The broadcast lasted 40-50 minutes without interruption. The broadcast allowed many people to find out the truth about Falun Gong being slandered and persecuted, sending shockwaves throughout Mainland China, as well as outside China.

This courageous act made the Jiang regime extremely scared, and became more ruthless in persecuting Falun Gong. Jiang gave the order to kill those responsible without pardon. More than 5,000 practitioners were illegally arrested and more than a dozen were sentenced to heavy prison terms. Eight practitioners were tortured to death. After enduring cruel torture and abuse in prison for 21 months, Liu Chengjun passed away on December 26, 2003 at the Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital in Changchun City.

Macao Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil on the evening of January 2, 2004 at the park opposite the Chinese Liaison Office to commemorate Liu Chengjun and several other Dafa practitioners who were tortured to death because of the TV-tapping incident in Changchun City. They called upon more people to show concern over the brutal persecution of Falun Gong that is currently happening in China.

On the second day in the new year of 2004, nearly a hundred Falun Dafa practitioners from around Australia gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra and held a press conference and a memorial to raise awareness of the brutal torture and subsequent death of Liu Chengjun who was a key person in the cable TV tapping on 5 March 2002 in Changchun City, China. They called for an end to the persecution and to bring those responsible including the former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, police officers involved in the case and murderers to justice.

It was mid-summer in Canberra today, the hottest day so far. There were banners in English and Chinese stating, "Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun died of torture on 26 December 2003 in Jilin Province, China," "Bring Jiang Zemin, police officers involved in the case and killers to justice," and also a banner of "Falun Dafa is Great" and posters telling the facts of the persecution.

Since July 20, 1999, Jiang's regime started the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners who believe in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." They have mobilized state-run media, including TV station, radio station, newspaper, magazine and the Internet to fabricate lies to defame Falun Gong, disregarding hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners' unceasingly clarifying the facts. Countless people have been deceived by the false news and witnesses.

Considering the fact that lies prevail in China, Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun and several other practitioners tapped into the cable TV signals in Changchun City to broadcast the truth about Falun Gong to several ten thousand TV viewers on March 5, 2002, breaking through Jiang regime's information blockade of the truth about Falun Gong. They safeguard the Chinese people's right to know the truth, allowing them to find out the facts of the persecution of innocent people who follow the principle of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

The successful broadcast of the truth about Falun Gong made the Jiang regime extremely scared. The police carried out a mass arrest in Changchun City. About 5,000 practitioners were illegally arrested, detained and suffered physical and mental torment to different extents. Eight of them were tortured to death in succession. More than a hundred practitioners who were detained in Jilin Prison, including Mr. Liu Chengjun, once held a hunger strike to protest for their basic right of livelihood. The death of Mr. Liu Chengjun is only one of the numerous facts of the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.

At the press conference, practitioners held a memorial for Liu Chengjun and had a moment of silence for him. Mr. John Deller, Falun Dafa Association spokesperson in Sydney and Ms. Li Ying who was recently rescued to Australia from China gave speeches at the memorial.

Mr John Deller said, "Chengjun Liu died trying to let the Chinese people know the truth of Falun Dafa and expose the Jiang regime's systematic cover up of their crimes and human rights atrocities." He praised Mr Liu's courage, "to expose the atrocities carried out against Falun Gong practitioners so Chinese people could see it for themselves." He considered that, "In most countries, Liu would be applauded as a human rights hero who peacefully defended his faith and publicly exposed Jiang's crimes against humanity. In China, however, those who carry out Jiang's orders to 'eradicate' Falun Gong branded Liu an outlaw and then tortured him to death. Chengjun Liu is one of more than 850 recorded death cases, all victims of Jiang's genocidal policy of eradication.

"Today, Jiang Zemin is facing lawsuits for genocide in more than 10 countries around the world. Most recently, on December 26, 2003 in South Korea, the Seoul Local Court formally accepted a Genocide Lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and Luo Gan brought by the Korean Falun Dafa Association.

"Today, we remember Chengjun Liu and the efforts and sacrifice he made to awaken the conscience of the Chinese people and let them know the truth. We hope that more people can realize the truth and condemn the Jiang regime's violence and brutality against peaceful Falun Gong practitioners who simply wish to persist in their belief of 'Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance'."

Dr Songfa Liu, spokesman for the Australia branch of World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), also spoke at the memorial. He said that after they heard the news that Mr. Chengjun Liu died of torture on the day after Christmas, WOIPFG filed an urgent case for investigation and issued two investigation notices on December 29, 2003.  They will thoroughly investigate all those responsible for Mr. Liu's death and persecution of other Falun Gong practitioners at different levels of the Chinese authorities and bring them to justice without hesitation. They will provide the information and evidence already gathered to international courts, human rights organizations, governments of different countries to expose and file lawsuits against those who participated in the illegal acts of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. In the meantime, the criminal records will be passed onto customs and immigration authorities of different countries.

At the end John Deller thanked the police for their assistance and cooperation and mentioned he hope that "the embassy staff can hear this message or come to hear about it that we are not against the Chinese government nor are we against the embassy staff and we do not interfere with the embassy activities. We simply want the persecution of innocent Falun Gong practitioners to stop and for Jiang to be brought to justice."

Many Chinese tourists visiting the embassy during the memorial were surprised to see so many Falun Dafa practitioners, some took information regarding the persecution and others took photos.

Reporters from the major media outlets in Canberra, Channel 9, Australian Association Press, and the Sound of Hope Radio Network attended the event. There was an objective report about the press conference during the prime time evening news on Channel 9.

On January 2, 2004, Falun Gong practitioners in Belgium came to the outside of the Chinese Consulate to protest Jiang regime's atrocity against Falun Gong practitioners, and commemorate Falun Gong practitioner Liu Chengjun from Jilin Province who were tortured to death several days ago.

Dafa practitioner Liu Chengjun was one of the key participants of TV tapping on March 5, 2002. He tapped into cable TV networks in Changchun City to broadcast the Falun Gong truth-clarifying programs to allow more people to find out the truth about Falun Gong. His courageous act shocked the evil, and safeguard people's basic human rights. He himself was cruelly tortured and his life was taken away. We strongly demand for punishment of the murderers and bringing Jiang to justice.

In the cold winter, practitioners peacefully practiced the exercises and sent forth righteous thoughts. The police who were on duty shifted one group after another. They encouraged us to keep it up. Vehicles passed by constantly honking horns to show their support. A person passed by saw us peacefully standing in the snow, he was deeply moved and especially took a picture of us and passed to us. He sincerely wished that we would keep it up.
