We Must Cultivate Ourselves While Exposing the Evil

Dear Fellow Practitioners:

After studying the article "Expose the Evil Happening Locally to the Local People With Master's Comment," many Dafa practitioners started to take action and are busy doing what we should do. When we started planning to expose the evil happening locally to the local people in Zhengzhou City, three Dafa practitioners were abducted by the persecutors and several other practitioners were abducted and sent to brainwashing classes. I consider this as damage by the evil to our whole body, and perhaps this happened because our minds were not in line with the principles of the Fa, and the evil took advantage of our loopholes. On the other hand, this exactly indicates that exposing the evil happening locally to the local people has hit the vital part of the evil, and that is why the evil has become so rampant. Therefore, we must clearly recognize and eliminate various interference, including arguments among practitioners, trivial household affairs, our own remaining attachments, as well as interference in our living environment such as power failures, etc., and we must coordinate well as one body. This is an article by our local practitioners with suggestions to fellow practitioners who are involved in making truth-clarifying literature. I feel it has served as a reminder to check our state of mind when doing Dafa work, so I have submitted it to Clearwisdom.net in the hope that it can also help others.

1. Use reason, not emotions. I suggest that we neither praise nor censure with emotional connotations in our comments, and instead use a neutral and objective tone to clarify the facts one by one to the people. It is more effective to let the facts speak for themselves. At the same time, by doing so it also demonstrates the truthfulness of Dafa practitioners. If commentaries are required, we can use the righteous principles the Fa created for humankind as our guidance to write them. This should help readers rectify their degenerate notions and help them develop compassionate and righteous thoughts. From another angle, what the persecutors fear most is having their criminal conduct exposed. For instance, when a policeman hears others talking about him being bad, that policeman might not feel scared, and he may just say that people are trying to frame him and making up evidence. But when the policeman hears others listing the facts of his crimes one after another with specific time, location, and description of the crimes, he will become most frightened. Of course, our purpose is not to frighten anyone. Our goal is to expose, suppress, and restrain the evil persecutors, and to offer salvation to all sentient beings.

2. Humans cannot harm gods, nor can they harm the enlightened beings cultivating in Dafa. This is persecution of humankind by the evil forces and bad people. When we write and talk about the persecution and the torture, our minds should not be trapped in the mentality of being persecuted, rather we should focus our minds and hearts on saving all sentient beings who are deceived by the lies and rumors against Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Certainly, it is easier said than done. It is as if you are eating a very sumptuous meal, yet you do not have any attachment to the dishes and the eating itself. Therefore, practitioners in our cultivation school are truly cultivating themselves to attain genuine and solid changes.

3. Limit the number of pages in truth clarifying booklets, carefully select articles, clearly differentiate what is primary from what is secondary, and give comprehensive coverage from all perspectives to give the reader a sense of objective coverage. Try to accommodate everyday people's reading habits and their way of thinking, and avoid just piling up truth clarifying materials. We should not be too fussy about the style of writing, because this does not play a decisive role. All words, comments, and commentaries tainted with our own attachments should be discarded.

4. There was a report on television about a taxi driver who used his car to hit an escaping robber in order to help the police arrest him. This caused severe injuries to the robber, who was then arrested. All the attorneys considered the taxi driver as violating the law, but the public thought the driver was doing the right thing. In China, when a person is labeled as a "bad person," the public will think that all unfair or unjust treatments to that person are justified. For instance, during the past political movements, numerous people who did not know or understand the true situations all participated in persecuting innocent people. If the public associates Dafa practitioners with images of self-immolation, murders, mental disorder, and being puppets of anti-China forces, then they will think whatever people do in the persecution is justified. Therefore, the first few pages of the booklet must use the right amount of literature to show the goodness and wonderfulness of Dafa such as the widespread popularity of Dafa around the world, the many awards and proclamations received, support shown by countries around the world, Dafa practitioners' goodness, sincerity, great compassion, endurance, and the fact that Jiang Zemin is being sued by Dafa practitioners in many countries for crimes of persecuting Falun Gong and its practitioners. We must show the goodness of Dafa to the public, because when people are still unaware of the goodness of Dafa, and we rush to tell them the facts of the persecution that Dafa practitioners have suffered, they may not be able to develop righteous thoughts toward Dafa and Dafa practitioners, since they have been deceived and brainwashed by the lies for so long.

5. When compiling truth-clarifying literature, especially when writing about our own suffering or suffering of our loved ones during the persecution it is very easy to stir up our attachments such as competitiveness, feeling unfairness, feeling inconvenienced, hatred, repentance, seeking justice, fear, and seeking recognition, etc., and we tend to enlarge them. There should be only one righteous heart, and that is the benevolent heart to save sentient beings.

In fact, the process of us exposing the evil happening locally to the local people and offering salvation to all sentient beings is also a process of fully exposing the attachments of each of us practitioners involved. We need to keep improving ourselves in areas where we have not cultivated well enough or where we still have shortcomings.
