Taiwan: Tainan City Sports Festival Focuses on Falun Gong (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) During the past five or six years, Falun Gong has become more and more popular in Taiwan. In Tainan City, which has a population of about 800,000, there are 24 Falun Gong practice sites.

The Mayor of Tainan City, Tain-Tsair Hsu, praised Falun Gong practitioners for their peaceful and rational efforts to rescue the persecuted fellow practitioners in Mainland China. During the Sports Festival held on September 25, 2004, the Tainan City Sports Committee specially invited Falun Gong practitioners to perform a one thousand-person exercise demonstration at the opening ceremony. Falun Gong had two booths at the sports festival, one for dynamic exhibition, and one for static exhibition. The practitioners wanted more people to know about Falun Gong.

The sports festival started off with the one thousand-person Falun Gong demonstration. During the demonstration, the team leader introduced Falun Gong and the illegal persecution in China, and called on spectators to care about this group of kind people. The audience gave him warm applause.

At the dynamic exhibition booth, students from the Falun Dafa Club of National Cheng Kung University performed a drama about Falun Dafa, which was first introduced to the public in China. The drama showed how, fueled by Jiang's envy, policemen are pushed by higher authorities to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. It also showed how Falun Gong practitioners persist in their beliefs in "Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance" in the face of the evil persecution.

Falun Gong had more performances that any other group during the event, and in addition to the one thousand-person demonstration, there was a waist drum team, and dances by Minghui School students. There were one hundred people playing the waist drums. The momentum was enormous, and it left a deep impression on spectators.

In the afternoon, Falun Gong practitioners continued to promote Dafa around the stadium. The "Anti-torture Exhibition" was set up along the street, and many residents were shocked by seeing the cruel tortures currently taking place in China.
