By Falun Gong Practitioners in Dehui City, Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom Net) Miss Qu Yanru, 14, is a student at the Eighth Middle School in Dehui City, Jilin Province. She lives in the Fifth Community, Gaotaizi Village, Dafangshen Town. Because of the death of her mother due to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, she is now cared for by her grandfather, Qu Guangen, 57, and grandmother Zhang Jingye, 56.

Miss Qu's mother, Jiang Chunxian, was born in December 1971, and started practicing Falun Gong in April 1998. On October 26, 2002, police from the Luyuan District Police Department in Changchun City arrested her at her temporary apartment in Dehui City. Using torture, they extorted a confession from her in the Third Detention Center in Changchun City, and then transferred her back to Dehui City Detention Center after one month's illegal imprisonment. On January 15, 2004, before being sent to Jilin Province Female Prison, also known as Heizuizi Prison, she was sentenced to eight years in prison. Ms. Jiang Chunxian was tortured to death February 19, 2004, just one month later.

Miss Qu Yanru's father, Qu Shoubo, was a farmer, but left home a long time ago to look for a job in other places.
