Yang Chunyuan from Chongqing City Is Detained at the Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp

Ms. Yang Chunyuan, 42 years old, lives at Apt 7-2, Unit 8, No. 1 Liming Village, Huangjiayakou, Jiangbei District in Chongqing City. She has a son named Yang Shun. In 2001, Ms. Yang Chunyuan was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor education because she practices Falun Gong. Every day for the past 3 years, Yang Shun has been looking forward to his mother's return, but instead he received news that his mother's sentence has been extended again.

Yang Shun's mother Yang Chunyuan has benefited physically and mentally from her practice of Falun Dafa. In 1999, Jiang Zemin started the persecution of Falun Gong. In order to appeal for Falun Gong, Ms. Yang Chunyuan went to Beijing to appeal and was then sentenced to 2 years of forced-labor education. Under the brutal persecution, against her will Ms. Yang wrote a so-called "pledge" not to practice Falun Gong anymore. Because of this she was released six months ahead of schedule. After she returned home, she realized that she was wrong and started to practice Falun Dafa again.

In May 2001, because another practitioner was arrested, Ms. Yang Chunyuan's phone number was discovered. Police searched her home and confiscated materials exposing the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Ms. Yang was illegally sentenced to 3 years of forced-labor education and was detained at the Maojiashan Women's Labor Camp.

Ms. Yang's 15-year-old son Yang Shun was left at home alone. Fortunately, a kind-hearted person adopted this unfortunate child.

Yang Shun respects his mother very much, but he could not understand why those people arrested his mother. In the past 3 years, he has been looking forward to his mother's return. This May, Yang Shun's mother finished the 3-year sentence. When he went to see his mother with high hopes, he was given the news that his mother's sentence had been extended for six months without reason. This news was devastating.

We appeal to the international community and human rights organizations: please pay attention to the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and the innocent children that become the direct victims in this persecution. They should be returned the rights that they are entitled to under international law.
