Sharing on Our Purpose in Manhattan

Hi everyone,

I want to share a few thoughts. Currently, three other practitioners and I are teaching Falun Gong exercises in a high school in Manhattan. We do this every Monday to about 100 kids. It's truly wonderful, and two weeks ago was our best session. Although the children fidget and talk, many did the exercises very tranquilly, and were interested in learning more about Falun Gong.

However, today there was a great deal of interference. The kids were impatient and talkative, falling asleep while we taught them the sitting meditation, and had strong thought karma. Many of the girls who were very absorbed in the practice last time suffered headaches or sickness this week. At one point, a practitioner showing the fifth exercise opened his eyes briefly and saw flies going back and forth before him. He immediately sent forth righteous thoughts, and they were gone afterwards.

So, the evil is everywhere. It manifests as the sand on our posters, as thick polluting fumes, and the terrible weather with wind so chilling that you can feel the evil in the icy blasts.

A Toronto practitioner shared with me her understanding of practitioners' energy as one body. I felt that my meeting with her was arranged, so as to help our problem with practitioners coming out. Why are we going to Manhattan?

Coming to the city everyday can be very tiring, and I feel that sometimes practitioners including myself see it more as a duty than coming from the heart. If we were clearer about this, we wouldn't need others to push us to do what we should do. When we leave the city to "take a break," the evil will also follow us. When practitioners are all together in Manhattan as one strong body, our energy and righteous thoughts will eliminate the evil more quickly.

For me, almost everyday that I am in the city, Master has arranged a tribulation for me. I am a very reserved, shy person, and often I am too self-conscious. This has hindered many truth-clarification opportunities in the past, my understanding of the Fa, and also chances for my demon-nature to come out so as to see more of my attachments. However, lately, I'm subconsciously becoming more involved in more activities in which I force myself to open up to let go of this attachment.

In Manhattan, I have also felt that the more difficult the location seems in having people take our leaflets, the more important it is that we send forth righteous thoughts and stay there. As Master says, one righteous thought can eliminate one hundred evils.

This is just my limited understanding.
