The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners at Jiamusi University

practitioners at Jiamusi University in Heilongjiang Province: Huang Min, Lecturer at the School of Information Electronics Technology,
Jiamusi University Huang Min was held at the Jiamusi Detention Center beginning in November 1999
for six months because he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. In 2000 he
was again illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor for appealing in
Beijing. In August 2001, Huang Min was tortured to such an extent at the labor
camp that he could not take care of himself and was released on medical parole.
Because he participated in the action of tapping into a cable TV system to
broadcast truth-clarifying information, the police went after him in April 2002.
Huang Min went into exile to avoid arrest. The state police department issued a
No. 1 Arrest Warrant and posted a reward of 50,000 yuan for information leading
to his whereabouts and a reward of 10,000 yuan to a local government for his
capture. In 2003, Huang Min was again arrested by officers from the Weifang Police
Department in Shandong Province, and was illegally sentenced to 20 years in
prison. He is currently being held at the Shandong Provincial Prison. Liu Qingwei from the Music Department of Harbin Normal University Liu Qingwei went to Beijing in 1999 to appeal for Falun Gong and then
attended the Guangzhou City Falun Dafa Conference. He was arrested and sent back
to Jiamusi City and held for over 40 days. After Mr. Liu was released, he was
not allowed to return to the school. In 2001 he was arrested for making Falun
Gong truth-clarifying materials and was brutally tortured. Liu Qingwei was
sentenced to 12 years in prison and was held at the Harbin City No. 3 Prison. He
was recently secretly transferred to an unknown location. Seventy-eight Falun
Gong practitioners being held at the Harbin City No. 3 Prison were also secretly
transferred to other locations. Yang Yongping, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Jiamusi
University A student reported Professor Yang when she clarified the truth about Falun
Gong during a training class for teachers from other schools. She was sentenced
to three years in prison and is currently being held at the Harbin City Women's
Prison. Yuan Yuqin, former head of Financial Section at Jiamusi University Yuan Yuqin was arrested after July 1999 and held at a detention center for 40
days because she was an assistant at a Falun Gong practice site. In December
2000, Ms. Yuan attended a Falun Dafa conference and was subsequently arrested
and sent to a detention center. She held a hunger strike to protest the
persecution and was released only when she was at the brink of death. Yuan Yuqin
learned that she had been sentenced to two years of forced labor when she was
detained in the detention center, so she had to leave home to avoid being sent
to the labor camp. The perpetrators from the University Security Division, the
City Police Department and the Xiangyang District Police Department went to her
home numerous times to try to find out her whereabouts. In November 2003, the
perpetrators from Xiangyang Police Department again arrested Ms. Yuan when she
was home, and held her in Building No. 1 of the police department. They released
her after extorting money from her family. Yao Kai, Lecturer at the School of Information Electronics Technology,
Jiamusi University In January 2001, Professor Yao Kai went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong
and was sent back to Jiamusi City and held at a detention center. In April 2001,
Yao Kai was reported when distributing truth clarification materials and was
sent to a detention center. In July 2001, Professor Yao was again reported when
distributing truth clarification materials and was sent to a detention center.
Later, Yao Kai was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. After being
released, Professor Yao was demoted and put on a two-year suspension from the
university. Wang Ping, Lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Jiamusi
University Wang Ping was stripped of her university position because she was a Falun
Gong practitioner. On November 18, 2000, she posted a notice saying "Falun Dafa
is Good" on a wall and was reported. The police from the Patrol Division
brutally beat her and took her to the Police Department, and then sent her to a
detention center. They ransacked her home and illegally sentenced Wang Ping to
one year of forced labor. Around May 1, 2002, the university sent Wei Guilin and
two teachers from the university, who were deceived by the anti-Falun Gong
propaganda, to Wang Ping's parents' home in Mudanjiang City in an attempt to
arrest her, but they failed. Zhang Baojun, Lecturer at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Jiamusi
University Professor Zhang Baojun was stripped of her position because she was a Falun
Gong practitioner. She was arrested while posting truth clarification materials
and was beaten, and her home was ransacked. Zhang Baojun was then sentenced to
one year of forced labor. In April 2002, perpetrators from the Xiangyang Police
Department sent word for Zhang Baojun to report to them in an attempt to arrest
her, but Zhang Baojun had already left home to avoid arrest. Li Limin, Lecturer at the School of Information Electronics Technology,
Jiamusi University In December 2000 Professor Li was followed on her way to a Falun Dafa
conference. She was arrested and sent to a detention center, and was later
sentenced to two years of forced labor. Zhao Lunxian, graduate from the School of Mechanical Engineering, Jiamusi
University The university rescinded Zhao Lunxian's qualification to remain and teach at
the university in 1999 because he practices Falun Gong. In June 2002, his home
phone was tapped. Perpetrators from the Security Bureau arrested him, ransacked
his home and sentenced him to two years of forced labor. His wife Zhou Yinqiu
was forced to leave home to avoid arrest, and their two-year-old child has been
left at home. Huang Yanying and Ma Hongbo, students at the School of Information
Electronics Technology Huang Yanying and Ma Hongbo went to Beijing for personal reasons in 2000.
After they returned, the university suspended them for one year. Huang Yanying
was sent to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp because she delivered truth
clarification materials in Harbin City during her suspension from school. Zhou Yinqiu, Lecturer of law, ethics and other classes, Jiamusi University Zhou Yingiu had been sent to a brainwashing class several times between July
20, 1999 and May 2000. The university deprived her of her position as a lecturer
and made her work in the library. Around June 2002, her home phone was tapped
and the perpetrators from the Security Bureau ransacked her home. Professor
Zhou's husband, Zhao Lunxian, was arrested and sentenced to two years of forced
labor, and Ms. Zhou was forced to leave home to avoid arrest. Their two-year-old
child was left uncared for. In the spring 2003, Zhou Yinqiu went to the Qiaonan
Police Station to pick up her ID card, but she was arrested and her home was
ransacked. The perpetrators ignored the fact that there was no one else to take
care of her child, and held Zhou Yinqiu in a detention center for two weeks. Her
family spent a large amount of money to get her out. Wu Fengqin, Lecturer in the Department of History, Jiamusi University Professor Wu went to Beijing in November 2000 to unfurl a banner validating
Falun Dafa and was arrested. She was held for a period of two weeks each at the
Changchun Detention Center and the Jiamusi Detention Center. Wang Kun, Lecturer at the School of Information Electronics Technology,
Jiamusi University Wang Kun went to Beijing in August 1999 to appeal and was sent back to
Jiamusi City and eventually sent to a detention center. In December 2000, Li
Changfeng, head of the Security Division, and Wang Shuchen, head of the Teaching
Faculty Office deceived Professor Wang, and he was again sent to a detention
center. Liu Xuan, Lecturer, Jiamusi University Liu Xuan went to Beijing in 1999 to appeal for Falun Dafa and was sent back
to Jiamusi City, where she was sent to a brainwashing class. The perpetrators
demanded that she write an article to slander Falun Dafa and deceive people, and
they plan to spread it through the media. Sun Ning, retired, Jiamusi University Sun Ning was arrested in early 2001 after being implicated with another
practitioner. The perpetrators from the city police department held him in a
detention center for several days. His family later spent some money on the
perpetrators before they released him. Li Cuihua, Affiliated Factory of Jiamusi University In 2003, perpetrators from Xinhua Police Station received orders from the
city government and ransacked Li Cuihua's home. They took her to the Xinhua
Police Station and then to the Xiangyang Police Department. They released her
after her family wrote a guarantee for her, saying she would not practice Falun
Gong. Prior to May 1, 2004, perpetrators from the Anqing Police Station suddenly
ransacked Li Cuihua's home again and arrested her. They held her at a detention
center for over two weeks. Wang Jinfeng and Gao Yulan, family members of a university employee Wang Jinfeng and Gao Yulan were reported in November 2003 when distributing
truth clarification materials. They were arrested by perpetrators from the
Qianjin Police Department and were sent to a detention center. Gao Yulan was
later released because she was in her 70s, and Wang Jinfeng was sent to a mental
hospital for further persecution. She was released after her family spent money
on the perpetrators. Zhao Wanqi, Lecturer at Jiamusi University; Xu Fumin and Meng Xiangli,
Students at Jiamusi University These practitioners went to Beijing in November 2000 to unfurl a banner but
were arrested. Meng Xiangli was illegally detained for more than one month
because she refused to write a "Guarantee Statement." She was expelled from the
university because of her belief in Falun Dafa. Ma Hongbo, Wang Dazhi, and Li Shi, students at the School of Information
Electronics Technology These three students were threatened, and against their own will they read
slanderous materials against Falun Gong on TV that written by the university
authorities. Yang Minjiang, a student at the School of Mechanical Engineering Yang Minjiang went to Beijing in 1999 to appeal for Falun Dafa, and was taken
back to Jiamusi City and sent to a brainwashing class. Perpetrators at Jiamusi University responsible for the persecution: Zhang Shaojie, Party Committee Secretary and Head of Jiamusi University Phone: 86-454-8783678 (Home) Because he believed the anti-Falun Gong propaganda, he attacked Falun Gong in
numerous school documents and set policies on salaries, bonuses and promotions
in accordance with the persecution. Mei Xuesong, Head of the Security Division, later transferred to the Party
Committee Phone: 86-454-8618577 (Office), 86-454-8221430 (Home) During his term at the security division, he participated personally in the
persecution by either directly administering or ordering subordinates to carry
out specific acts of persecution. Li Changfen, Section Head of the Security Division, Jiamusi University In 1999, he was active during meetings organized to slander Falun Dafa. In
the past several years he was actively engaged in arresting practitioners who
went to Beijing to appeal. He also personally participated in the large-scale
arrest of Falun Gong practitioners in 2002. He threatened and extorted money
from practitioners and their families. Fu Guibin, Deputy Head of the Security Division in 1999, later transferred to
the Military Division Phone: 86-454-8618610 (Office), 86-454-8655381 (Home) In 1999, he threatened Falun Gong practitioners who went to Beijing. He also
held brainwashing classes and tried to force the practitioners to write
slanderous reports against Falun Gong. He sent steadfast practitioner Wang Kun,
a female teacher in her early 20s, to a detention center. Wei Guili, a member of the university "610 Office" In 2002, Wei Guilin and two university teachers went to Wang Ping parents'
home in an attempt to arrest her but were unsuccessful. Li Gang, former member of the university's Propaganda Department and a member
of the university "610 Office" In May 2000 he held brainwashing sessions at the university and read
slanderous articles against Falun Gong every day during the session.
