By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Jilin Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qifa worked for the Sanchazi Forest Farm in Jiangyuan County Forestry Bureau in Baishan City, Jilin Province. On January 19, 2003, he died as a result of torture at the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. His father Zhang Quanfu died from beating torture at the same labor camp on January 8, 2003. The two men left behind their daughter and granddaughter.

Because of the brutal persecution of Falun Gong, Zhang Qi lost both her father and her grandfather within ten days, and the police often harassed her family and frightened her. Zhang Qi used to live with her father. After his death, she lived with her paternal grandmother and aunt. They have difficulty providing for her, so sometimes she stays with her maternal grandmother.

Zhang Qi's paternal grandmother, Jiao Yongzhi, is 67 years old. She began practicing Falun Gong in January 1999 and went to Beijing twice to appeal for Falun Gong. Ms. Jiao was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor and was held at the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City for one year and 35 days. After her release, persecutors from the Sanchazi Police Department often went to her home and harassed her. She is now living on money sent to her by her two daughters who live in other cities.

Mr. Zhang Qifa was 38 years old and worked at the Sanchazi Tree Farm at the Jiangyuan County Forestry Bureau in Baishan City, Jilin Province. In March 2002, Zhang Qifa was illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor and was sent to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp. He died on January 19, 2003 from being tortured.

Zhang Qifa experienced tremendous physical and mental changes after he began practicing Falun Gong in November 1998. Falun Gong taught him the true meaning of life. After the persecution began, he went to Beijing to appeal in December 1999, and was detained for one month. In February 2000 he went to Beijing again and was sent to the Baishan City Forced Labor Camp and held there for two years, and then released on February 19, 2002. On the evening of March 6, 2002, fourteen days after his release, the police took him from his home and sent him to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp to be held for one year. He was released on January 18, 2003. He had visible scars all over his body, his skin was dark and rough, and it was covered with ulcers and spurs. His legs hurt terribly and he could not walk. He had difficulty breathing and using the toilet, and his speech was slurred. He passed away at noon on January 19, 2003, at the age of 38.

Mr. Zhang Quanfu was 65 years old and he also worked at the Sanchazi Tree Farm at the Jiangyuan County Forestry Bureau in Baishan City, Jilin Province. On January 8, 2003, Zhang Quanfu died from torture at Group 2, Division 6 of the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp.

Zhang Quanfu began practicing Falun Gong in January 1999. He used to suffer from hyper-osteosis and uremia, which were cured through his Falun Gong practice. After the persecution began, Zhang Quanfu believed that the government would change its mind about Falun Gong after hearing the facts, so he went to Beijing to appeal in December 1999. The police in Beijing arrested him and sent him back to Baishan City, where he was held for 15 days. In February 2000 he went to Beijing again and was illegally sentenced to one-and-a-half years of forced labor by the Baishan City Labor Reeducation Committee, and was released in January 2001. After his release, the police constantly harassed him at home. On the evening of March 6, 2002, the police again abducted him and took him to the Chaoyanggou Forced Labor Camp, where he was held for one year. He was brutally tortured at the labor camp and was beaten just prior to his death. He passed away on January 8, 2003 at the age of 65.

Right before he died, Zhang Quanfu's leg muscles had atrophied and he could not walk. He was dragged up and down the staircase to the cafeteria. He had blood and pus in his stool, his body was covered with scabies, and he was skin and bones. Wang Fuli, the inmate on duty, pushed him around, and division head Li Zhongbo slapped his face.
