Clarifying the Facts on the Internet

(Clearwisdom.net) More than two years ago, we began to clarify the facts of Falun Gong over the Internet. In the beginning we only sent emails. Most of the replies we received revealed misconceptions about Falun Dafa. We received several dozen letters daily, but all were vulgar. In the beginning, I did not realize the importance of telling the facts about Falun Gong, but corresponding with these people awakened me to the urgency to do so. Later I visited a chat room on the Internet. It was so much more beneficial and convenient for truth clarification. I found it quite different from writing emails, as one cannot get the others' reaction on the spot when writing. In the process of writing and waiting for a response, it can often take more than a month to help others understand the truth. However, chatting on the Internet conveys the practitioners' goodwill. It can also be combined with voice chat. Rude people would immediately become more polite after hearing your voice. One also can clarify the truth simultaneously to several people on the Internet. We have improved substantially over our beginning efforts, as we can show them videos on the Internet. We found that people who held great misunderstandings would understand the truth after watching the videos.

Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference":

"So looking at things from this perspective, you still need to step up your clarifying the facts some, and still need to do it in greater depth, do it better, and do it more solidly; you absolutely can't just go through the motions. Only when you do it earnestly can you save that many people."

I will now share some of our experiences in the chat room. I hope this encourages fellow practitioners. I hope that more practitioners will clarify the truth over the Internet and step up their efforts. No matter what happens, we can't neglect clarifying the facts. We must also help people who say that they want to learn Falun Gong.

One person who held a deep misunderstanding persistently wrote to me in defamatory language. He asked me not to practice any more. I sent him some pictures, but he still did not believe the facts. Finally, he agreed to watch a video. I observed him quietly watching the video on the screen. At last he said to me, "What you said is all real! I really appreciate you telling me this! Can you show me more videos? I will watch all you can show me."

Another time, a person I chatted with asked me not to practice Falun Gong. I clarify the facts further to those people with wrong understandings, and have them watch truth-clarification videos. I played the video without difficulty every time, but on that day he was unable to view it no matter what we tried. From the screen, I saw him asking for help from the person in charge of the Internet bar. This person asked him not to watch it after seeing what the video was about. He typed with embarrassment, "You have seen it!" I replied, "I think you are a good person!" He asked, "How so?" I answered, "You are not affected by this person's attitude and still willing to talk to me." This dissolved his embarrassment. I sent forth righteous thoughts, and encouraged him to finish watching the video. He said, "I understand now." He told me that he would come back in a day and try again. I told him about the persecution that Gao Rongrong had suffered, and he asked for Gao Rongrong's photo. He wanted to see how the police had disfigured people. I warned him before I uploaded Gao Rongrong's photo, "Please do not be frightened because you can't imagine the cruelty and brutality of the persecution against Falun Gong!" He said to me after viewing the photo, "This is too brutal! Too hateful!" Eventually he understood the inhuman treatment of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Once I chatted with a very polite person on the Internet. After I told him that I practiced Falun Gong, he asked me if it was good. He said he also wanted to learn. I told him that he was fortunate, and asked, "Do you know about the Tiananmen Self-Immolation incident?" When I mentioned the doubtful points of this incident, he only kept asking me, "Really? Really?" At first I thought that he held no misconceptions and wanted to learn Falun Gong. However, he suddenly sent me a sentence, "I am a police officer! No one in China will believe you!"

I told him that I held no hostility, and suggested that he pay more attention to the information from overseas. I asked if I could show him movies, and he agreed. After watching the analysis of the self-immolation incident, he appeared to be in deep thought. He was very patriotic and loved his country. He was in deep thought as to why the government could do such things and make up so many lies. He nervously turned off the video. Then his attitude towards me changed to hostility, and he admonished me.

I then calmly and kindly asked him, "Can I talk to you?" He agreed. During the conversation, I told him that Falun Gong is not against the government, and practitioners only oppose this persecution. "I hope you can understand and believe me," I said. "I am not asking you to betray our country; I only want you to make a clear distinction between right and wrong! One more concern, one more kind thought will lessen the occurrence of a disaster." During the process of clarifying the facts to him, he lost his temper several times, and my heart was moved by it. Finally, because I continued to think of what Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2001 Canada Fa Conference": "Since we cultivate a righteous Fa, no matter what we do, we should approach it with goodness," I was able put down my attachments, and he gradually felt our goodness. At last, although he did not express anything in words, he sent me a flower and a smile. I knew that my efforts were successful. He understood the truth! Before logging off, he said, "I won't misunderstand Falun Gong any more."

Once I met a person on the Internet who listened to the truth, and I thought that he held no misconceptions. I wanted to talk in more detail and tell him about my feelings and past experiences. After talking for a while, I found that this person still held some misconceptions and doubts. At that time I only chatted with him, and not too many people simultaneously. I asked him if he would like to hear a song. I sent him the lyrics, and he burst into tears. I was a bit surprised, although the song of "Coming for You" is really touching. He continued to send me the message of "Thank you! Really thank you, I am very moved, and I just want to cry."

Later he typed again, "You made me remember some things, and I remember my friends." Then he sobbed and said, "I was a lucky one, otherwise I would be disabled." I understood that he once learned Falun Gong. We had a long talk. I gave him the software to surf the Internet safely, and asked him to read Teacher's new articles. He said, "You showed me the light!" He kept thanking me. I asked him if he knew about the Tiananmen Self-Immolation incident. He responded in the affirmative. He had watched the fabricated report on TV. He not only had believed it, but also stopped practicing because of it. After watching the truth-clarification video, he continued to ask me questions. At last he asked, "But I do not have time to read the book, what can I do?" His misunderstanding had finally dissolved.

The more people I chatted with and clarify the truth to on the Internet, the more I felt the urgency to do more of it. Although at first they were not friendly due to misconceptions, I could feel that they were kind. I recognized that they were contaminated by the lies and distorted propaganda. They lived in an impure environment. Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference": " So with those people who've been deceived in the persecution, all the more so, how could you not give them a chance? If you don't tell them the facts they will lose their futures forever."

Without control by the evil, it is really easy to make a person understand the truth. Many people said they wanted to learn Dafa, and I was very happy for them..

One day, when I saw a message sent to me by a girl on the Internet, I typed, "My friend, how are you? Sorry for not replying earlier." She immediately replied, "It does not matter, you are a good person!" I was quite surprised and asked, "Do you know about Falun Gong?" She answered, "If you believe it, it will protect you. An incident happened to me, and made me unable to not believe." And then she told me, one day she was talking on a mobile phone in a car. The handset fell out of the window, and the car did not stop immediately. Once the car stopped, she went back along the road they had driven to look for the handset. She did not think that she would find it, after all, the car had gone a great distance! When she walked to a big tree, she looked up and saw a banner reading "Falun Dafa Is Great" was hanging on the tree. She thought, "If I can find my mobile phone, I will believe you!" She found her phone. She was so surprised! She also said she wanted the book.

I feel more and more people are waiting for us to bring them the truth of Falun Gong. A person's username on the Internet is "God, save me." Teacher said in the article "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People":

"For a Fa-rectification period Dafa disciple, personal liberation is not the goal of cultivation: when you came, saving sentient beings was your great aspiration, and that is the responsibility and mission history has bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification. Thus great numbers of beings are to be saved by you. Dafa disciples, don't forsake the magnificent responsibility that has been bestowed upon you in Fa-rectification, and even less should you disappoint those beings, as you are now their only hope for entering the future. For this reason, all Dafa disciples, students both new and veteran, should get to work and begin comprehensively clarifying the truth."

Many fellow practitioners have been persistently working on computer technical maintenance and making truth-clarification materials. They silently give of themselves. We are one body and should treasure it. Today I told you these true stories. I hope that we can encourage each other. We should cherish the opportunity we have to find these people on the Internet. They are waiting for us to tell them the facts, and bring them the wonderfulness of Dafa. Finally I would like to quote Teacher's article "In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human" to encourage myself and fellow practitioners. "With validating the Fa, you should save the world's people and do well the three things Dafa disciples are supposed to do. Be diligent! Cast aside your human attachments. Godhood isn't far away."
