US Congressman Condemns the Hate Crime Committed Against the Australian Falun Gong Practitioners Visiting South Africa
(Clearwisdom.net) On September 6, 2004, US Congressman
Anthony D. Weiner wrote to Falun Gong practitioner to condemn the acts of
violence perpetrated against Falun Gong practitioners. The following is the text
of the letter from Congressman Weiner. Congress of the Untied States House of Representatives September 6, 2004 Dear (name omitted): Thank you for contacting me regarding the tragedy which
befell the Australian Falun Gong practitioners visiting South Africa. I share
your sense of horror. You are right to condemn acts of violence perpetrated against
individuals for their religious beliefs. I have consistently supported efforts
in Congress to make those who commit "hate crimes" eligible for more
severe punishment. And I have repeatedly demanded that the Chinese government
relent in their persecution of those who practice Falun Gong. You can be sure I
will continue to work hard on these issues in the future. Again, thank you for contacting me. Please do not hesitate to
be in touch in the future on this or any other issue of concern. Sincerely, Anthony D. Weiner
Washington, DC 20515-3209
Member of Congress
