The student organizations' party of September 14, 2004 was the last of a series of activities for incoming freshmen. The participating organizations all performed, to introduce their groups and to welcome the new students. The party was held in Cheng Kung Hall, a place that seats over one thousand people. In order to let the freshmen know about Falun Dafa and also so that the presentation would fit into the format of a stage performance, the student Falun Dafa practitioners of Tainan County worked together to put on a nine-minute show.

Though there were a few small mistakes during the show, it was overall a very successful performance. The audience was impressed at the peaceful and serene large-scale group exercise practice at the beginning. When it ended, the audience gave the practitioners warm applause. The next day when the student organizations began to recruit new members, many new students said they were impressed by the performance. Some said the Falun Gong performance was good because it didn't follow other organizations' comedy style format.

Student Organizations Recruitment

On September 15 and 16, the student organizations recruited new members from 5 pm to 9:30 pm. All the student organizations set up tables to recruit new members during this time. The Falun Dafa Club also set up an information table to introduce Dafa to students. The practitioners demonstrated the exercises in front of the information table and distributed flyers with experience sharing articles and truth-clarification materials. The practitioners also demonstrated the exercises for 20 minutes in the performance area in front of the student organization tables. After the demonstration, the practitioners told the audience that Jiang's persecution had extended to foreign countries, including Taiwan.

Many new students registered for the free exercise class. One student had some misunderstandings about Falun Gong before. After he heard the introduction, he immediately wanted to read the book Zhuan Falun (1), and he read the whole book in less than one week. Some students asked about the difference between Falun Gong and other Qigong practices, and why the Mainland wants to persecute it. The practitioners answered all their questions one by one.

The Cheng Kung University Falun Dafa Club has been established for four years. From 7 to 10 on the evening of September 22, the club held the first experience sharing meeting of the semester. After watching a movie, the practitioners shared their experiences of how they started to cultivate Dafa. One new student said he heard that Falun Gong is good when he was in high school, but the Falun Gong Club was established after he graduated. So he joined the Falun Dafa Club at the university. Another student said that she at first thought that cultivation was for old people only. A veteran practitioner shared some understandings with her and this student realized that she should treasure this rare opportunity. One new practitioner said that he wanted to learn Falun Gong a long time ago but for seven or eight times, whenever he wanted to read more about Falun Dafa on web, something interrupted him. Finally, he was able to learn Falun Gong and he was very happy to find that this was exactly what he was looking for. After the experience sharing meeting, the new practitioners attended the exercise class the next morning.
