Eyewitness Account of Conditions at the Beijing Juvenile Prisoner Detention Facility
By a practitioner in China
(Clearwisdom.net) From November 2000 to February 2003, the Ninth
Division of the Fourth District of the Beijing Juvenile Prisoner Detention
Facility detained 49 female Falun Gong practitioners. The authorities blocked
all information about the persecution happening there. Until now, people didn't
know much about what happened at this facility. To expose this evil, I will
briefly relate the persecution of the practitioners being detained in this
location. Ms. Yao Yue, about 27 years old, was a graduate student of Qinghua
University. Because she distributed Falun Dafa materials and sent out a large
amount of emails to clarify the truth about the persecution, she was sentenced
to 12 years. Her husband was sentenced to 3 years at the same time and was
detained at Xian Prison in Beijing. Ms. Jiang Changfeng, 72 years old, is a retired government official. Because
she participated in printing Falun Dafa truth-clarification materials, she was
sentenced to 10 years in prison. Ms. Jiang started serving her term at the end
of 2002. Due to the persecution she experienced in prison, her face is full of
sores discharging pus and she cannot open her eyes due to the swelling. Her
husband, Mr. Yu Changxin, was a member of the former Falun Dafa Research
Association. He has been sentenced to 18 years and is being held in a military
prison. Ms. Zhe Tong, over 30 years old, was a lecturer at the Micro-Electronics
Research Institute of Qinghua University. She was sentenced to one and a half
years because she displayed a banner with the words "Falun Dafa Is
Great" in Tiananmen Square. She was first detained at the Beijing Women's
Prison. In early 2001 Ms. Zhe was transferred to the Juvenile Prisoner Detention
Facility and was released in April 2001. Because she published facts
about the persecution on Clearwisdom.net exposing the brutal acts of policewoman
Jin Hua, and sent letters clarifying the true situation at the Women Prison and
Juvenile Prisoner Detention Facility, she was arrested along with her husband Yu
Chao. In September 2002, Zhe Tong was detained at the Juvenile Prisoner Detention
Facility again. She was held on the second floor of the prison hospital. There
were 6 or 7 "cangues" (including policemen and criminals)(1), who were
assigned to monitor and persecute her all the time. Ms. Zhe held a hunger strike
to protest the persecution. At the end of January 2003, when the hospital wanted
to close the building for the Chinese holiday season, the authorities wanted to
put Ms. Zhe in prison. In 2004, Ms. Zhe Tong was sentenced to 11 years in
prison. Ms. Pei Fengyuan, over 50 years old, was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Her
situation is the same as Ms. Jiang Changfeng's. Because she participated in
