Two Short Stories

During the 2004 Chinese Spring Festival [Chinese New Year], I went back to my hometown to spend the holiday with my family. I have a local friend who worked at a coal mine in Huangshi City, Hubei Province. He told me there was a practitioner named Zhang Wenquan working at his work unit. Zhang Wenquan became an honest and hard working person after he took up the practice of Falun Gong. However, after the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Zhang Wenquan was harassed by local police numerous times. In 2002, he was detained for 15 days because of his practice of Falun Gong, and he was forced to write statements promising not to practice Falun Gong anymore.

In the past I had been deceived by the propaganda published by Chinese media and I had many misunderstandings about Falun Gong. After learning of the persecution of Zhang Wenquan, plus reading some Falun Gong flyers, I no longer believe the propaganda I read and hear in Chinese media demonizing Falun Gong.

Later I learned that Liu Jianguo, a section chief of Huangshi City Police Department, who participated in the persecution of Zhang Wenquan, was severely injured in a car accident and became disabled afterwards. However, others in the same car were not harmed. Such an incident really makes me think it is true that good and evil will be rewarded in kind.

Recently I came to know a Dafa practitioner from Zibo City, Shandong Province. She told me the following story: after the Chinese Spring Festival, the local "610 Office" held a brainwashing class and abducted over 30 practitioners to attend. Most detained practitioners were from rural areas.

When asked to watch the "self-immolation" videotape, a woman practitioner said, "No, I won't watch it. It's all fake. Have you ever seen police patrolling Tiananmen Square carry fire extinguishers around?"

The "610 Office" people said, "Oh, you can also tell it's fake?" Soon the brainwashing class was dismissed.
