The Brutal Persecution of Schoolteacher Ms. Guo Xiurong in Nanpi County, Hebei Province

Guo Xiurong was a teacher at the Zhangtun School, Nanpi County, Hebei Province. After practicing Falun Gong, she was free of diseases and her moral character improved. People who know her all say she is a good person who takes pleasure in serving others. Her husband is also a school teacher and they have a 13 year old daughter. Her mother is 70 years old.

During the relentless persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang Zemin and his cohorts, Guo Xiurong was nearly tortured to death several times. The following are some of the details of the persecution that Guo Xiurong suffered at Nanpi County Detention Center and Botou City Detention Center. Her husband was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for practicing Falun Gong and detained at Tangshan City Yidong Prison.

In the spring of 2003, Guo Xiurong taught students in the class to behave according to the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance." As a result, she was taken from the classroom by agents from the Nanpi County Public Security Bureau. Guo Xiurong's mother, over 70 years old, was sent to the Baoguantun Local Police Station with her. Policeman Chang Jun and other National Security Team members beat Guo Xiurong. They left her face swollen and bruised, and caused eye ground hyperemia and tinnitus. The police then cuffed her hands behind her back and sent her to Nanpi County Detention Center. Director Zhu Haiting of the detention center ordered the brutal torture of many Falun Gong practitioners when he was the vice-manager and political instructor of Luguan Township, Nanpi County. He ordered others to force her to sit on an iron chair and wrap her head with a cotton-padded jacket, nearly causing her to suffocate.

Guo Xiurong refused food and water to protest the persecution. Zhu Haiting then ordered force-feeding. Several guards and male prisoners held her down while a very thick rubber tube was cruelly inserted into her nostril. This resulted in gastric hemorrhaging from the mouth and nose. This caused continuous vomiting of blood and difficulty in breathing. After 9 days of hunger strike, Guo Xiurong's body was unrecognizable. Only then did Nanpi County Public Security Bureau agree to release her for medical treatment.

Guo Xiurong's 70 year old mother and 13 year old daughter cared for Guo Xiurong when she returned in an emaciated condition. They did not expect that 10 days later, when she was still very ill, that team leader Wang Yuliang of the Nanpi County Public Security Bureau National Security Team in collusion with Luguan Township Local Police Station, Baoguantun Local Police Station, the Cultural Education Office and Zhangtun School, would again abduct Guo Xiurong. They sent her to Botou City Detention Center where the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is even more brutal. Guo Xiurong again conducted a hunger strike to protest this persecution. Two managers of the Botou City Detention Center force-fed her many times. They tied her spread-eagle to an iron bed. Her entire body was soaked after being force-fed. The police then would place the bed in a cold wind, where she would freeze and shake from the cold. They pried Guo's teeth open with bamboo strips and force-fed her concentrated salt solution. As a result, her teeth were seriously injured and she could not lift up her arms at all. Her fingers and legs could not move. Four days later, she was released because the police feared she might die and they did not want to take responsibility.

After Guo Xiurong was released from Botou City Detention Center, she was still not spared by the wicked people. She had to leave home to avoid further persecution after suffering such severe torture. She has lost the capability to take care of herself and find employment.

Guo Xiurong was publicly recognized as a good teacher. Her family, workplace, close relatives and friends all know that the practice of Falun Gong created positive changes in her. She learned to be a good person, and this brought harmony and happiness to her family.

The vicious persecution by Jiang's regime has caused countless family tragedies such as this one.
