At 6:30 p.m. on October 10, 2004, four Falun Gong practitioners were beaten. They were Zhou Jianwu, Hu Zhigang, Zhang Qingming and Zhu Feng, who were held in the No.3 Sub-district, No. 1 District, Qinduankou Prison. The perpetrators were dozens of inmates who did this simply because the practitioners didn't answer roll call.

At 7:30 a.m. on October 11, Zhou Jianwu was beaten up again by many inmates for the same reason. The most vicious ones included Yang Guoqiang, Yao Xian'an, Liu Zhigang, Long Bin and Zhang Shijun. Policemen who incited them to beat up practitioners are Cheng Guanghai (main instigator), Cha Zhongping, and Tong Feng. After that, ten policemen and an official with the last name of Li from the Discipline Committee went to the cell, handcuffed the four practitioners and separated them. After beating and kicking the practitioners for a while, they had two policemen take each practitioner to solitary confinement. When going down the stairs, the four practitioners were still loudly calling out, "Falun Dafa is great."

As it was time for the inmates to go to work in the morning, all of them were watching. Hu Zhigang was beaten so badly that his mouth became swollen and bleeding. The other practitioners suffered similar fates. After being taken to the solitary confinement cells, the four practitioners were beaten so severely that they couldn't straighten their backs or raise their arms. Prison policeman Chen Chuanhong bragged in a meeting, "Today, everybody did a great job. They deserved the beating, and you don't need to take responsibility. If the higher-ups investigate, you can simply deny it."

A practitioner held in No. 12 Sub-district, No.1 Prison District was beaten so severely that his legs were fractured. The details are being further investigated.

2. [Hengshui City, Hebei Province] Many Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

At around 9:00 a.m. on October 15, 2004, Zhao Xuguang, Madian Township's Police Station chief, led Hou Dajian, Wu Zhenxiang and others from the County Police Department to break into Falun Gong practitioner Zhai Xiaose's home. They arrested four people including Zhai Xiaose, Li Xiaomin from Beiguo Village, Xiao Fang from Xiangguan and another practitioner from Shiwu Village. Later on, their family members went to the village police station to demand the practitioners' release. Police station personnel said, "Their main purpose was to arrest Li Xiaomin because someone reported the practitioner for distributing truth-clarifying videos." Wu Junbang and others from Madian Township's Police Station also participated in the persecution.

3. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Falun Gong Practitioner Xu Baowen Catches Tuberculosis as a Result of Torture

In order to avoid the persecution, practitioner Xu Baowen from Chaoyang City went into exile and lived away from home. On December 29, 2003, officers from the Xinhua Police Station arrested him while he was handing out truth-clarifying materials at the Well Measuring Company, Liaohe Oil Field, Panjin City, Liaoning Province. Later, personnel from the Liaohe Police Department put him into Liaohe Oil Field's Detention Center.

Xu Baowen staged a hunger strike for over two months. On January 13, 2004 he was officially arrested and later sent to Panjin City's Prison. It was reported recently that Xu Baowen has caught acute tuberculosis due to torture and was sent to the Prisoners' Hospital in Pingdingpu Town, Tieling City. After visiting him, his family said that he was in critical condition.

4. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Wu Zilong Repeatedly Detained and Sentenced to Lengthy Prison Term

Practitioner Mr. Wu Zilong used to work in the Shuangyang District Agriculture Bank in Changchun City and started to practice Falun Dafa in 1995. For appealing for Falun Dafa, he has been held, imprisoned and repeatedly fined since 1999. He later left home to avoid further persecution.

In July 2002, Yu Zhijian and other officers from the Shuangyang District Police Department's Criminal Team abducted Wu Zilong and tortured him severely. The details are unclear. According to a person from a prison, Wu was tortured so brutally that his wrist bones were exposed, making his fingers lose feeling.

In 2003, without notifying family members, police sentenced Wu Zilong to nine years of imprisonment. Three practitioners, Mr. Liu Haixiao, Li Huaiming and Ms. Zhao Xinling from the same district, were sentenced to 16, 13, and 2 years of imprisonment respectively. Wu Zilong is presently being held in Jilin Province's No.2 Prison. (Tel: 86-432-4881551). No family visits are permitted. According to the prison authorities, some regulations exist stating that no visitor is admitted for those practitioners who have not signed the "five statements" (statements to renounce Falun Gong). Wu's family members are trying to appeal.

5. [Dazhu County, Sichuan Province] Police Arrest Liu Xigui On a Train for Clarifying the Truth about Falun Gong to Other Passengers

Practitioner Mr. Liu Xigui from Dazhu County was reported to police when he was clarifying the truth to passengers on a train to his workplace in Guangzhou City. Policemen arrested and then put him into Dazhu County's Detention Center. His current situation is unknown.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Zhang Jie on a Hunger Strike for Nine Days

On October 14, 2004, practitioners Zhang Jie and Ms. Zhang Guihuan were taken to a brainwashing class. Zhang Jie went on a hunger strike after the arrest. So far it has been nine days and Zhang is emaciated. Policemen forced Zhang to have an infusion.

Zhang Guihuan, nearly 60 years old, is held in a room and monitored around the clock. She was forced to undergo brainwashing.

Ms. Jin Guirong, who had been put into a forced labor camp for two years, has been sent to a brainwashing class directly. Her detention term was up six months ago. She was recently transferred to Shenyang City because of her determination to uphold her belief in Falun Gong.

7. [Henan Province] Arrest of Tang Lijuan

On October 14, 2004, Ms. Tang Lijuan was arrested when clarifying the truth and distributing Falun Dafa materials to local people at a business center located at the headquarters of the oil field. She has been sent to the Huangpu Detention Center.

8. [Bei'an City, Heilongjiang Province] Arrest of Feng Guixia for Mailing Falun Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials

On October 10, 2004, policemen Sun Li and Liu Xuesong from the National Security Team of Bei'an City's Nongken Police Department arrested practitioner Ms. Feng Guixia, a teacher from Zhaoguang Town's First Elementary School, Bei'an City, Heilongjiang Province for mailing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. She is currently being held in the police department's detention facility.

9. [Lincheng County, Hebei Province] Repeated Police Force-feeding of Ms. Wang Liqing

Practitioner Ms. Wang Liqing had been sent into brainwashing classes twice. The second time, she walked out of the Xingtai Brainwashing Class with the power of her righteous thoughts and belief. She had been living in exile since then. On September 1, 2004, a villager, who had been bribed by Li Qingshan, the deputy chief of the police department, who was in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, reported practitioner Ms. Wang to the police. Thus she was followed, arrested and held in the county's detention center. Wang has been on a hunger strike to protest the unlawful incarceration. Wang Liqing was force-fed many times during her detention. Though she was extremely weak and had been on the hunger strike over a month, Li Qingshan still sent Ms. Wang Liqing to a forced labor camp. The labor camp authorities didn't accept her at first, but Li Qingshan bribed some officers and eventually put Wang into the No.4 Division of Shijiazhuang City's Forced Labor Camp.

10. [Changyi City, Shandong Province] Liu Yingxuan Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor for Hanging up Dafa Banners

During the evening of February 14, 2004, personnel from Taibaozhuang Township's Police Precinct found practitioner Mr. Liu Yingxuan from Hougantang Village, Taibaozhuang Township, Changyi City, Shandong Province when Liu was hanging up Dafa banners. These thugs surrounded Liu Yingxuan and brutally beat him up. The villagers living along the road could all hear Liu's miserable screams. Afterwards, Liu was taken to the police station and suffered other cruel tortures. Later, without going through any legal process, Liu Yingxuan was sentenced to three years of forced labor. He is still in detention now.

11. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Arrest of Practitioner Dong Zhenmei

On October 15, 2004, practitioner Ms. Dong Zhenmei and another practitioner from Weifang City, Shandong Province went to a market in Ju County, Rizhao City to clarify the truth about Falun Gong. Police arrested and tortured them for three days. Their families were extorted out of 54,000 Yuan, and then the practitioners were transferred back their hometown police precinct. They are currently being detained at Weicheng District's Detention Center, Weifang City, Shandong Province.

Dong Zhenmei clarified the truth of Falun Gong to everyone she could talk to. Now she has been on a hunger strike for eight days. The detention center officials did not allow her family members to visit her. Her two school-aged children and a disabled 80-year-old grandmother are left at home.

Practitioner Mr. Liu Dongcai was arrested in Daliushu Town when he was distributing truth-clarifying materials. He is currently being detained at Weicheng District's Detention Center, Weifang City, Shandong Province.

12. [Yi County, Hebei Province] Arrest of Zhuo Guibin; Relatives Threatened

On June 3, 2004, police from Yi County's Security Team arrested practitioner Zhuo Guibin from Yi County, Hebei Province. This was Mr. Zhuo Guipin's third arrest. On June 18, 2004, officers from Yi County's Police Office secretly sent Zhuo, who had been on a hunger strike for six days, to the Baoding City's Forced Labor Camp for three years of forced labor. They notified him of this at the entrance to the labor camp.

Zhuo Guibin continued the hunger strike in the labor camp to protest the illegal detention. With his righteous belief in Dafa and the rescue efforts of practitioners outside of China, Zhuo Guibin walked out the labor camp on July 8, 2004, after 18 days of hunger strike.

After Zhuo Guibin went home, policemen from Yi County's Police Department attempted to arrest him again. Zhuo Guibin was forced to flee to avoid further persecution. Police looked for him everywhere to arrest him. Since they could not find him, they started to threaten and interrogate his family. They colluded with upper-level police departments to harass, threaten, and interrogate Zhuo's relatives in other cities, as well.

13. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Arrest of Practitioner Zhu Ruimin

In October 2004, practitioners Zhu Ruimin, Wu Ruiting and Cong Yuqin from Yingkou City clarified the truth about Falun Gong to Shao Wanying, a teacher from the city's No. 1 School. Soon after, Shao Wanying told her son-in-law what had happened, and then they reported the three practitioners to the police. Later, these three practitioners were arrested and are currently being detained at Yingkou City's Detention Center.

14. [Hainan Province] Arrest of He Jinya, Wang Jiaolian, and Lan Pinxiang

On October 20, 2004, security guards from Hainan Province's Military District No. 2 Division arrested practitioner Ms. He Jinya, Ms. Wang Jiaolian and Ms. Lan Pinxiang and took them to the Haifu Street Police Office for distributing truth-clarifying materials. The police and officials from the Political Section of the military district ransacked the practitioners' homes. These practitioners were transferred to a brainwashing class later that night.

15. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Liu Guozeng Arrested

Practitioner Mr. Liu Guozheng from Harbin City, 60 years old, is an employee of the No.5 Branch of Heilongjiang Province's Installation Company. On September 12, 2004, when he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, someone reported him to police and as a result, personnel from Dongli District's Police Precinct arrested him. He is currently being held at Dongli District's Detention Center.

16. [Liaocheng City, Shandong Province] Arrest of Several Practitioners

On September 30, 2004, personnel from the Wenchen Police Precinct arrested Ms. Wu Xiuqin.

On September 30, 2004, Mr. Qu Yutian and Mr. Liu Daxi from Kangmeng Village, Xiaozhuang Township were arrested.

On September 30, 2004, male officers Du Shengyang, Liu Wenzhong and others from Boping Town's Police Precinct arrested practitioner Mr. Liu Yuekuang from Boping Town. Policeman Liu Wenzhong is from Luozhuang Village, Boping Town. His neighbor is a Falun Gong practitioner. In order to curry favor for a promotion, he reported his neighbor.

On October 12, 2004, practitioner Ms. Qu Guixiang from Miaopu Village, Fengtun Town Chiping County was forcibly taken away from home.

17. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Arrest of Tan Jingbo for Distributing Truth-clarifying Materials

During the morning of October 9, 2004, when Falun Gong practitioner Tang Jingbo from Harbin City was distributing Falun Dafa truth-clarifying materials, someone reported Jingbo, who was arrested and taken to Harbin City's No.2 Detention Center.

18. [Heilongjiang Province] Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp Guards Use the Most Vicious Torture Methods on Practitioners

This information comes from fellow practitioners who were just released from the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp, that twenty to thirty practitioners who were steadfast in their faith in Falun Gong were tied spread-eagled to a wall. Then, lawless policemen beat them and shocked them with electric batons until they fell to the ground. Many practitioners have been seriously injured. This torture totally incapacitated some of the practitioners.

19. [Ziyang City, Sichuan Province] Yu Tinggui Arrested For Distributing Truth-Clarifying Materials

Practitioner Ms. Yu Tinggui, 50 years old, from Longtai Town, Anyue County, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province, was arrested several days ago when she was distributing truth-clarifying materials at Maojia Township. Longtai Town's Police Precinct chief Liu and two other policemen searched her house without showing any legal documentation. Yu Tinggui is currently being detained at Anyue County's Detention Center.

Since February 2004, practitioners Gao Deyu and Wei Yi have been detained even though their detention terms have expired. After Wei Yi was detained an additional eight months beyond her term, Xichang City's Court sentenced her to three years in prison. On October 13, when the appeals deadline had expired, a policeman from the National Security Team verbally informed her family. They said they would send Wei Yi to another location on October 17. Her family has not received any formal notification.

At noon on October 22, 2004, lawless policemen from Xichang City's National Security Team arrested practitioners Ms. Lu Yuncui, Liao Ancai, Ms. Guo Hongping, Ms. Guo Bing and Ms. Lin Shaobi. Luo Yi from the national security team led others and searched Guo Hongping's and Lu Yuancui's houses on the afternoon of October 22 and on the morning of October 23, respectively.

It was reported that two of the five arrested practitioners were incarcerated at the city's detention center and three were detained at the Tuohuang Drug Rehabilitation Center, where practitioners were savagely beaten.
