(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Li Changrong is a Falun Gong practitioner from Hongan County, Hubei Province. Over the past five years, his home was searched and he was arrested six times. The total detained time is 450 days. In order to catch Mr. Li Changrong, the police went to his home every day and intimidated Ms. Wang Zihua, Mr. Li's wife. Ms. Wang passed away on the night of September 24, 2004. On October 25, 2004, police arrested Mr. Li soon after he returned home.

Mr. Li Changrong began practicing Falun Gong in 1996. On September 17, 1999, Mr. Li went to Beijing to appeal. On October 9, after Mr. Li returned home, he was arrested and detained for 18 days. In April 2004, Hongan County held the first term of forced brainwashing classes. Mr. Li was detained in the brainwashing class for 12 days and released on May 8. On June 29, 2000, Mr. Li was arrested and detained for 23 days with the excuse of the suspicion of handing out literature on Falun Gong. He was sent for forced labor at the Stone Crushing Factory run by Hongan County's Detention Center. He was ordered to gather ash under the biggest stone crusher, which produces the heaviest dust. Prisoners were provided with respirators, but none were provided for Falun Gong practitioners. Practitioners were also not allowed to wear safety hats.

Those who persecuted practitioners said that the authorities gave orders on how to treat Falun Gong practitioners: "Defame their reputation, bankrupt them economically and destroy them physically." When dealing with practitioners, they severely abused them. Due to the heavy dust, Mr. Li choked so badly that blood flowed from his nose like water from a faucet. They did not give him any medical treatment. Mr. Li's nose kept bleeding for two or three days and then he was released.

On the night of December 19, 2000, since New Year's Day was coming, which is considered one of the "sensitive days," the police searched Mr. Li's home and arrested him. He was detained for 7 months and was not released until July 18, 2000. On July 21, just three days after he returned home, the police searched Mr. Li's home again. He was arrested again and detained for 13 days.

On December 20, 2001, before the "sensitive" New Year's Day, the police searched Mr. Li's home again. They arrested and detained him for half a year. During the detention period, the guards led by Dong Fangchu, the instructor of the detention center, brutally beat and tortured Mr. Li. Finally, Mr. Li was released on June 19, 2002, after he firmly protested and went on a hunger strike for 31 days.

On the night of June 27, 2004, the "610 Office" of Hongan County and the Public Security Bureau intended to catch Mr. Li again. They knocked on the door of Mr. Li's home. No one answered the door so they spoke to Mr. Li's neighbor. The neighbor asked them what they were doing there so late at night. They said they were carrying out official business: "Mr. Li is a Falun Gong practitioner; now we are going to arrest him." Mr. Li overheard what they said. After midnight, Mr. Li left home after the police had gone. In the early morning of the next day, the police went to Mr. Li's home again. Since they did not find Mr. Li, the police ransacked his home and confiscated his property.

In the following days, the police from the First Police Station of Hongan County went to Mr. Li's home every day and intimidated Mr. Li's wife, Wang Zihua. They even stayed near to Mr. Li's home, watching and intending to catch him. Especially when the "sensitive" National Day was coming, the police went to Mr. Li's home more frequently to harass and intimidate his wife. Ms. Wang Zihua, Mr. Li's wife, died on the night of September 24, 2004. Her body was found two days after she died. It is unknown what was the cause of Ms. Wang's death, but there were obvious bruises on her body. Police who were watching Mr. Li's home said, "Li's wife died. He must come back. We will definitely catch him then." On October 25, 2004, Mr. Li was arrested soon after he returned home.

We can only imagine what kind of brutal torture Mr. Li will face. We appeal to the kindhearted people all over the world to please help rescue Mr. Li.
