Canada: "Uncompromising Spirit" Art Exhibition Makes an Impact at the University of Western Ontario (Photos) By practitioners from Toronto
(Clearwisdom.net) On November 9 and 10, 2004, the "Uncompromising
Spirit" art exhibition was held in the activity center at the University of
Western Ontario. The exhibition site was located where a constant stream of
students passes by every day. The University of Western Ontario is a very
influential academic university. Many people, including students and professors, came to visit the exhibition.
Initially, many did not know about the persecution of Falun Gong in China, but
after viewing the exhibition, they signed postcards in support of bringing Jiang
to justice. The local people are very kind-hearted. They showed their great
attention to the persecution going on in China. Many people talked with
practitioners for a long period of time. Five to six media outlets came to cover
the event and learned about the details of the persecution. Initially, many
media outlets thought that the art exhibition was about something that had
happened long ago and did not realize that what is reflected in the artworks is
currently happening in China. After talking with practitioners, they stayed and
took detailed notes and conducted interviews. Sculpture professor Zhang Kunlun related how he was deceived by police
officers in China, who videotaped him when he was imprisoned in the labor camp.
The videotape was then edited to show that he had given up his practice, in
order to deceive the public. Media reporters and visitors to the art exhibit
were all astonished to learn this and learned more about the Chinese ruling
Party's deceitful tactics. After listening to the facts about the
self-immolation, more people realized the brutality and severity of this
oppression. Upon learning about the former Chinese dictator's control of the
educational system, through which they are poisoning the minds of youngsters,
everyone understood more clearly why Falun Gong practitioners spare no effort in
trying to stop this persecution. The effect of the art exhibit was quite good. The more than 10 practitioners
who participated in the exhibition hardly got any chance to take a break. People
constantly came to learn about Falun Gong. This art exhibition will be held in
Toronto City Hall from November 14 to 17, then it will move to Humber College
from December 1 to 3 and finally, it will be shown at Guelph University from
December 14 to 16. Currently, posters about the exhibition are posted in all
public libraries in Toronto. After hearing about the facts, many people showed great interest in learning
Falun Gong. Nearly 100 people left their contact phone numbers and e-mail
addresses. Many people even took additional postcards for their family members
and friends to sign in support of bringing Jiang to justice. A number of people
said that they had seen practitioners' anti-torture exhibitions in New York.
They are quite moved by the practitioners' persistent spirit. Through practitioners' efforts, more and more people are learning about the
truth of Falun Gong and the persecution. Posting date: 11/15/2004
