Not Letting Go of Human Attachments Is Dangerous

Within a period of 40 days, Teacher issued three articles: "Let Go of Human Attachments and Save the World's People," "In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human" and "My Version of 'Stick Wake-up.'" I was greatly moved and I would like to talk about a lesson concerning the danger of not letting go of attachments.

In March 2002, because Falun Dafa practitioners tapped into Changchun City's TV signal to play a Falun Dafa documentary video, authorities in different areas went into a frenzy of arresting practitioners. Several supervisors in my workplace summoned me in to speak to me, so I took these opportunities to "clarify the truth" to them. However, they only advised me to give up cultivation. As I continued talking to them, I became irritated and I was in a poor state of mind. Not only did I fail to "clarify the truth" to them, I was later illegally sentenced to a two-year forced labor term, which greatly hurt my family members. After I finally returned home, the environment there was very severe. My wife, who used to support me when I studied the Fa [law and principles] and practiced the exercises, and who sometimes helped me distribute truth-clarification flyers, no longer let me do these things and would not even let me speak with others on my own. When I "clarified the truth" to friends and relatives, they would not listen, and they tried to persuade me to stop cultivating. As soon as I "clarified the truth" to my work colleagues, they would change the subject or give negative examples to oppose me.

Through studying the Fa, particularly Teacher's new articles and searching within myself, I realized that this was all due to my human attachments in Fa-rectification. In the article "In Fa-Rectification Your Thoughts Have to be Righteous, Not Human" Teacher says:

It is very dangerous to cling to such human attachments. In "Digging Out the Roots" (Essentials for Further Advancement") Teacher says: "It is extremely dangerous to add anything human to cultivation practice." Because I had treated the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners as human against human, not only did I have unpleasant feelings toward certain people (for example, police and forced labor camp guards), but I was also reluctant to "clarify the truth" to them. Moreover, I was strongly offended by some departments that had been used by the evil to persecute Falun Dafa. Actually, Teacher has talked about attachments many times; it's only that I had not studied the Fa well. Now I fully realized the danger of not letting go of attachments. After all, I have paid a great price for this.

I knew someone who started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. After July 20, 1999, she still clarified the truth at first. After some practitioners around her were persecuted, she stopped coming out because she was scared. I went to her many times to give her Teacher's new lectures, and we also discussed following Teacher's requirements for Fa-rectification Falun Dafa disciples. Yet, she said this would oppose the government and defended herself by quoting Teacher's words out of context. I was very sad to hear her and thought to myself that I would help correct her.

Several days ago I delivered Teacher's new article, "My Version of 'Stick Wake-up'" to her. Two days later I heard that she was in hospital for a gallbladder operation as she had cholecystitis. When I went to see her she was pale and lying in bed with an IV drip. She needed others' help to move and go to the toilet. She suffered enormously.

In this final period of Fa-rectification, we should let go of all human attachments. Otherwise, "Only after having fallen down will one begin to regret, yet then it is too late." (From "Dafa Can Never be Plagiarized" in Essentials for Further Advancement.)
