Toronto: Art Exhibition in City Hall Receives Community-Wide Support (Photos) By a Falun Dafa Practitioner in Toronto
(Clearwisdom.net) The art exhibition entitled, "Uncompromising
Courage" was held in the lobby of Toronto City Hall from November 14 to
November 17, 2004. Toronto City Hall is visited by many tourist groups,
including those from China. A press conference announcing the art exhibit was
held on November 15, the same day practitioners held another press conference
concerning their lawsuit against Jiang Zemin and other Chinese officials
responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong. With great support from City Council members, Falun Gong practitioners were
able to bring this art exhibit to City Hall. Employees of the city government
gave Falun Gong practitioners a lot of support by helping them set up lights and
the artwork. Tourists from China were amazed to see that Falun Gong
practitioners' artwork was exhibited in City Hall. The leader of the Greek Community of Metropolitan Toronto gave a speech at
City Hall to support Falun Gong practitioners. He said that on behalf of all
people in his community, he would like to express support for the exhibition and
what it aimed to achieve. He said he was against genocide because the Greek
community has also experienced much suffering. They understand Falun Gong
practitioners' situation. Mr. John Fraser of Massey College of the University of Toronto is a winner
of the Canadian Medal and columnist for the Globe and Mail. He wrote a
letter of congratulations to the art exhibition. He said in his letter that
having experienced both pain and support, Falun Dafa practitioners have taught
us that love and beauty were better than hatred, but most impressive was their
courage and determination to practice
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Falun Gong practitioners expressed their appreciation to all who have given
support and made the art exhibition possible. Posting date: 11/23/2004 |
