University Teacher Mr. Li Shitou's Entire Family is Persecuted

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Li Shitou is a teacher in his 30s at the Mechanics Institute of Hebei Industrial University in Tianjin. Mr. Li, who holds a master's degree, started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. His entire family has suffered from persecution because they all practice Falun Gong. His parents live in Handan City in Hebei Province, and have been undergoing a continuous ordeal the past several years. His mother was tortured to death, his father has been detained several times and sent to a forced labor camp, and his wife was forced to live a life of homelessness to avoid further persecution.

When the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Li kept practicing Falun Gong in the park. He was arrested and detained for one month.

On October 28, 2000, Mr. Li was arrested again while distributing Master's new articles to fellow practitioners. He was illegally sentenced to eighteen months of forced labor, and was jailed and tortured at the Shuangkou Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin. Because he upheld his belief in Falun Dafa, his term was extended for six months. When the two years were over, his term was again extended for another six months for the same reason.

After the thirty months of torment in the forced labor camps, he was forcibly sent to brainwashing classes for further persecution. He was steadfast there and refused to write the "Guarantee Statement" promising to end his practice of Falun Gong. After the brainwashing failed, he was sentenced to another 30 months of forced labor and transferred to Jixian Forced Labor Camp in Tianjin for intensified torture in June of this year.

All family members of Mr. Li practice Falun Gong. His wife was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution. His parents used to live in Handan City, but his mother, Liu Huanqing, was detained and tortured to death by Handan police at the detention center in August 2001, and his father, Li Ganglin, was also jailed and sent to forced labor and brainwashing classes many times.

Mr. Li's entire family has been broken up due to the persecution against Falun Gong. We hope that all people with a sense of justice both at home and abroad come to care about this disaster still taking place in China, and lend their hands to help end this inhuman persecution.
