Some Thoughts on the Lawsuits Against Jiang

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom.net recently published a number of articles discussing the lawsuits against the chief culprit of the persecution, Jiang Zemin. They are quite thought provoking.

We often use the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet as an example to illustrate the lawsuits against Jiang, although Jiang's crimes are much more serious. We refer to Pinochet to make it easier for Westerners to understand our position. There are, however, vital differences between the two dictators: for one, Pinochet was the military head of a nation and he suppressed political dissidents within Chile. Although the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners is taking place in China, its influence is global, as Jiang Zemin has deliberately misinformed foreign governments and the media with vicious lies. This had led to many people around the world harboring misunderstandings toward Falun Gong.

Many of Jiang's crimes during the past five years have been exposed on Clearwisdom.net. Some include exporting hate propaganda through Chinese consulates, distributing propaganda pamphlets among foreign heads of state, and pressuring foreign governments into silence about the persecution of Falun Gong by offering them financial incentives. The Jiang group has also sent agents to tap Falun Gong practitioners' private telephones. In some instances, they have demolished practitioners' cars and broken into their homes, insulting and beating them. Persons from the Chinese consulate in Manhattan allegedly hired a local thug to beat Falun Gong practitioners. Certain people in the Chinese government also coerced a foreign government into joining the persecution when it demanded that the Thai government illegally detain and then expel a Swedish Falun Gong practitioner. Jiang's followers even hired local thugs to try to murder Falun Gong practitioners visiting Africa. The Chinese police beat many of the 100 Western practitioners who went to Tiananmen Square to appeal for Falun Gong, and the Chinese consulate in Toronto erected a "Wall of Hate" to spread hate propaganda.

In early 2003, I met a Westerner from Vancouver, Canada, who used to work for a Canadian airline. I assumed he knew the truth about Falun Gong since he enjoyed freedom of information in the West. However, when I mentioned Falun Gong, his face was instantly filled with contempt and he said many things that were almost identical to the Chinese government's propaganda.

I was shocked. I told him I was a Falun Gong practitioner and had just been released from prison after a long period of illegal detention. He stared at me in disbelief. He invited me to coffee, but I decided to treat him to Chinese green tea.

I told him about the persecution of Falun Gong and about my experiences in prison. He listened closely and then looked grave. After he learned the truth, he excitedly condemned the Party and told me that except for economic considerations, the Western world does not have much interest in the Chinese government or the Party. He also said he knew the Jiang faction is capable of any wrongdoings. He was worried about my safety and asked me to be careful.

I went on to tell him that Falun Gong can help one relax, expand one's mind and improve one's moral character. He was quite interested. Upon parting he held my hand and said, "You are an outstanding person. I will learn more about Falun Gong after I return to Vancouver."

Jiang is not only persecuting the Chinese people--his goal is to destroy the good nature and morality that is inherent and essential to mankind--attributes which are included in Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance, the characteristics of the universe.

As more people awaken, we should take the situations that are unique to each of the various countries into consideration as we push the lawsuits forward. During the anti-torture exhibits, many kind-hearted people asked how they could help stop the persecution. Perhaps we can tell them that one option they have is to sue Jiang Zemin from the basis of being a citizen of their country, since the perpetrators are not only murdering Falun Gong practitioners in China, they are also persecuting the rest of the world's people. Everyone has the right to learn about Falun Gong in a positive way, and Falun Gong will truly bless those who have learned the truth.

As Falun Gong practitioners, we do not seek fame or fortune, and we are not affected by worldly events. We cultivate ourselves, expose and oppose the persecution and offer salvation to people. Falun Gong practitioners and people who learn the truth will not allow the perpetrators to shirk their individual responsibilities by simply restoring Falun Gong's reputation. They must be brought to justice. As a fellow practitioner has said, "How can the murderer be allowed to restore the victim's reputation? Heaven forbid!"

As practitioners, we should cooperate with one another and work harder to clarify the truth. We should not passively wait for external changes, but instead proactively expose the head perpetrator's criminal nature. We should persistently and rationally clarify the truth until the persecution is brought to an end.

I also suggest that fellow practitioners, particularly practitioners in Shanghai and the surrounding areas, send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil elements behind Jiang, who is hiding in Shanghai, and get rid of the evil elements behind the "610 Office" and the police. Let's not give the evil in other dimensions any opportunity to do harm.
