Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Zhou Dewei from the Huanggu District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province Dies as Result of Torture

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhou Dewei was 48 years old. He lived in Santaizi, the Huanggu District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province and worked as a quality inspector at the Shenfei Company. Mr. Zhou was brutally tortured at the Huazi Prison in Liaoyang City and passed away on September 29, 2004.

Zhou Dewei was unlawfully arrested in June 2001 while distributing truth clarification information. The perpetrators ransacked his home, sentenced him to three years in prison and sent him to the Huazi Prison in Liaoyang City. The guards encouraged the inmates to torture Zhou Dewei, who later showed symptoms of pleuritis [a lung disease]. He was extremely weak and emaciated. Mr. Zhou was released on medical bail in June 2003 and passed away on September 29, 2004.

Nearly 60 practitioners are currently being held at the Huazi Prison in Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. In February 2004, the prison authorities demanded that Division Three, which specializes in the detention of Falun Gong practitioners, turn a 60,000 Yuan profit at the end of the year. As a result, the practitioners were forced to do slave labor. Forty-two-year-old practitioner Liu Shiwei refused to work and was detained in solitary confinement. His hands and feet were cuffed together and he was forced to stay in a fetal position for a week.
