Analyzing the TV Signal-Tapping Incident from the Perspective of Good and Evil

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 21, 2004, Beijing satellite TV coverage was pre-empted by a Falun Gong truth clarification video program. The Chinese government media published a statement by the Sinosat Satellite Corporation claiming that a "certain satellite transponder was 'maliciously' disrupted." The author believes that such a statement reveals the intentions of those who are behind the persecution of Falun Gong. They intend to continue to deceive people, and fear exposure of the truth about the persecution.

The judgment of good and evil is based on moral and ethical principles. People have accepted the universally recognized view of moral values in this world through tests of reality and history. It is not difficult to discern whether an opinion or an act is compassionate or malicious.

In December 2003, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda held a trial of three men accused of taking part in the Rwandan genocide of 1994 using the media to incite hatred and to demonize those who were being persecuted. Two of them received life sentences, and the third received a 35-year sentence.

According to the Statute of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, article 2: "Genocide," the third paragraph, says "The following acts shall be punishable." Item (c) states, "Direct and public incitement to commit genocide." Compared to the evidence obtained by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda regarding Radio Rwanda's role of inciting such hatred, we can readily observe that there is a surprisingly high degree of similarity, in both scale and style, to flagrant statements that incite hatred against Falun Gong being carried out by any official Chinese government media under the control of Jiang's regime. For example, the media often reports public statements by governmental and judicial officials, stirring up public hatred and fear towards Falun Gong, calling on the mainstream masses to participate in uprooting Falun Gong and to "transform" Falun Gong practitioners, and the media deliberately organized various symposiums and seminars to attack Falun Gong. Furthermore, Jiang's regime uses the media to fabricate and stage falsified incidents to vilify Falun Gong. The most typical example is the staged "Tiananmen Square Self-Immolation Incident." Overwhelming evidence demonstrated that the so-called "Self Immolation" was staged by Jiang's regime.

A Chinese official once disclosed to the Washington Post that the suppression and persecution was not very successful until 2001 when they found a "more effective" method. This "effective" method consisted of three parts: Brutality and violence, high-pressure propaganda, and brainwashing. According the investigation by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), there were 347 articles slandering Falun Gong in the first month of the start of the persecution in People's Daily, an official newspaper. Chinese Central TV (CCTV) actively cooperated with the persecution and produced a large quantity of TV programs slandering and incriminating Falun Gong. In the short time span of less than two years from April 25, 2002 to the end of 2003, there were 332 slanderous programs produced under the cover headings of "Focal Point Interview," "News," "Nature and Science Channel," "Law Today Weekly," "China Diplomacy Forum," "TV Critique," "China Web Media Forum," and "Living Channel," etc. These slanderous programs were widely carried by the local media. From January 2000 to October 2003, the Xinhua web site posted 522 articles attacking Falun Gong. The articles were widely distributed and linked to by other Chinese and overseas websites. As one can see, any one of such articles could be used as criminal evidence against these official media.

Not long ago, an Epoch Times reporter interviewed a Chinese official who was responsible for the propaganda. When queried about the "layer by layer infiltration," he said, "There are three Party newspapers published by the Publicity Department of Central Committee of the Communist Party of China: the People's Daily, the Economic Daily, and the Qiushi Journal. They pushed these three Party newspapers to the provinces [meaning: ordered the provinces to subscribe to the three newspapers]. Each province added its own Provincial Party newspaper and pushed it to the cities and municipal levels. Each city then added its own Municipal Party newspaper to the counties. Level after level, they all claimed that subscription was voluntary, but the truth is, one cannot refuse to subscribe. On average, each township would need to spend about 100,000 yuan on the subscription to various party newspapers, and most of that burden was shouldered by the farmers." The Party official stated, "We specialize in managing the ideological area, including the critique of Falun Gong, etc." His statement could help us understand better the high pressure propaganda and penetration against Falun Gong by Jiang's regime during the past five years.

As far as "malice," what could be more malicious than murder, creating disturbances, and falsifying and shifting the responsibility for disaster to others (such as the "Self Immolation")? What could be more evil than instigating the whole society to participate in these crimes? What could be more immoral than instigating the entire society to be against the most fundamental moral values of mankind? What could be more wicked than exploiting the kindness of people to deceive them for so long? Yet, that was precisely what Jiang's regime, and the propaganda system controlled by them, did.

Now let's look at tapping into the television broadcast. Regardless of whether Falun Gong practitioners or other righteous people did it, it was a proactive act to expose and restrain the criminal acts of Jiang's regime, and to use facts to erase the hatred and wicked thoughts instilled into people's minds. Throughout these long five years, Falun Gong practitioners have never wavered from their original goals, to stop this persecution, send the real criminals to be tried by a court of law, and help the misled people who participated in the persecution to stop their criminal acts and to recover the damage they have caused. Amidst this unprecedented adversity and ordeal, Falun Gong practitioners do not care about personal loss and life threatening danger. They tell people the facts and hope they have a rewarding future. By not having a personal agenda while looking at the issue of the television signal tapping, the real issues behind it are clear. You can easily see who is doing good and who is doing evil.
