(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Yu Qian of Dehui City, in his 30's, was illegally sentenced to a 17-year jail term. A "confession" was coerced from him through brutality and torture at the hands of the police in Jilin Jail. He is being held in Ward 11 of Jilin Prison, with his injuries leaving him unable to care for himself.

In September 2004, Jilin Prison intensified its effort to force the "transformation" (the process of torture and brainwashing leading a practitioner to sign a document guaranteeing that he/she will give up the practice) of Falun Gong practitioners. Yu Qian resisted with a hunger strike. The jail guard applied brutal force-feeding to torture him and prevented his family from seeing him. Recently, Yu Qiang was kept in a tightly monitored solitary cell and faced more severe mistreatment.

Now it has become known that the solitary cell has torture instruments that are used to torment Falun Gong practitioners:

The Sitting Bed

Sitting Bed is a small stool that has sharp-edged metal bars lining the seat. The person has to keep his back and neck straight while sitting on the device. If the person moves a little, the watch person will beat him. There were many instances when steadfast Falun Gong practitioners were forced to sit on the stool until their buttocks were worn out, rotting, with bones exposed.

The Stretching Bed

Stretching Bed is the most brutal torture instrument in Jilin Prison. The jailors tie up four limbs of practitioners who have refused to give up their belief to a special bed. The bed has four rings. They fix a practitioner's hands and feet inside the rings, and put force on the rings. Now the practitioner's body is raised above the bed boards by stretching the four limbs. Additional force is then applied to the rings. The person loses consciousness in a few minutes. After 10 minutes, the joints, muscles, flesh, and skin are all separated.

Practitioner Yu Qian is being held in the tightly monitored solitary cell facing such severe treatment. His life is in danger and we hope fellow practitioners can start an emergency rescue.

Another practitioner, Yang Guang from Changchun, in his 50's, is illegally detained in Ward 11 of Jilin Prison as well. He was sentenced to a 15-year prison term. He now is completely paralyzed due to the persecution and cannot take care of himself, yet he is still kept in the prison.
