By a practitioner in Taipei
(Clearwisdom.net) The 2004 Taipei International Carnival Parade was
held on the afternoon of October 23, 2004 in the NeiHu District, with more than
2,000 people participating in the event. Each procession had its own theme,
catching the attention of the parade spectators. Practitioners participated with a waist drum troupe composed of 50
practitioners from the central and north regions. Although the troupe was
organized less than six months ago, each member has practiced every week and the
team's performance has reached a solid level. Their bright yellow costumes and
traditional drumming style was a center of attention. Practitioners also
presented various colorful traditional Chinese dances. The parade was organized by the NeiHu District Office, in conjunction with
NeiHu District University and Sijhihi Dream Community. Artists from the USA,
Canada, and Australia, and many local schools and community organizations
participated in the event and presented floats.
