Media Reports on Australian Falun Gong Practitioners' Lawsuit Against Jiang Zemin

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom correspondent's comprehensive report: On December 10, 2004, Australian Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Cuiying's lawsuit against ex-Chinese leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong began the first court hearing. Ms. Zhang expressed that she is upholding justice for the persecuted people in China. Currently, Falun Gong practitioners from over 20 countries have filed 46 lawsuits against the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) in Sydney reported on December 10 that an Australian woman Falun Gong practitioner filed a lawsuit in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday against Chinese officials for the persecution of her. According to AP's report, 42-year-old Zhang Cuiying suffered eight-month's detention and mistreatment in 1999 for practicing Falun Gong when she returned to China.

After Zhang Cuiying returned to Australia, she decided to file a lawsuit against Jiang Zemin who was Chinese president then. Zhang Cuiying expressed to the media outside the NSW Supreme Court Friday that she is upholding justice for the persecuted people in China.

As for the persecution Ms. Zhang suffered in China, the Epoch Times news network reported that Zhang Cuiying went to China to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong at the end of 1999, hoping the Chinese authorities to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Unexpectedly, the authorities detained her for eight months, during the time she suffered all kinds of torture. Ms. Zhang said, "I was beaten so often that bruises covered my entire body and the pain made me unable to sleep. I was chained with heavy shackles. I was forced to sleep on the concrete floor in the cold winter, with the toilet right in front of my head."

Ms. Zhang said she was detained in a dark, damp prison cell filled with a foul stench and was not allowed to go outside for fresh air. Such adverse condition caused her to suffer severe physical damage. She was even thrown into the quarters for male prisoners to humiliate her.

Voice of America (VOA) reported that Australian Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Cuiying filed a lawsuit against former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. Zhang Cuiying expressed that she suffered torture for her belief during her visit to China. She filed the lawsuit in a court in Sydney on Friday.

Zhang Cuiying said that she was arrested in March 2000 for speaking out against Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong in Shenzhen City. She said that during the eight months' incarceration, she was chained with heavy shackles and forced to work long hours daily. Her solicitor said that 46 lawsuits against Jiang Zemin and his followers have been filed in 26 countries.
