Facts of the Persecution

1. Persecution Endured by Falun Dafa Practitioners Ding Shiquan and Ms. Yang Lan from Dazhou City, Sichuan Province

Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Ding Shiquan, who is in his fifties, is from Dazhou City, Sichuan Province. In 1999, 2000, and 2001, he went to Beijing to appeal to the government to stop the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. As a result, he received severe beatings from policemen and officials in Beijing, Dazhou City, the Political Security Section, and the Communist Party Committee at the factory he used to work for. One of his ribs was broken due to the beating, and his home was illegally searched. He was detained, fined, and was forced to leave his job (he is now retired). Another Dazhou practitioner, Ms. Yang Lan, 40, was previously a first grade teacher at Beiwai Center Elementary School in Tongchuan District, Dazhou City. During the Spring Festival in 2001, she went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was detained for about five months. After she returned to the school, she was monitored by staff member Wei Chuansheng for a long time. Later, Wei Chuansheng spread rumors about Yang Lan, and reported her activities to National Security agents, leading to Yang Lan's detention. In August 2003, she was abducted and taken to a brainwashing class. In August 2004, Yang Lan and her daughter planned a trip to Chengdu City, Sichuan Province to visit her husband, who was sentenced to Dongshan Prison for his belief in Falun Dafa. Yang Lan was forced off the train by policemen. The school took away her teaching position and forced her to do janitorial work.

2. The Torture Endured by Falun Dafa Practitioner Zeng Jinfeng in the First Detention Center

Practitioner Zeng Jinfeng was illegally arrested on October 18, 2004. She was then jailed at the First Detention Center in the Dashatian area of Nanning City, Guangxi Autonomous Region. She was forced to wear handcuffs and shackles, which were connected with chains. The handcuffs and shackles cut into Zeng Jinfeng's skin, and in a short period of time, her hands and feet were swollen. She had to ask other people to take care of her since she could hardly move. It was very painful, but Zeng Jinfeng didn't give in. On November 13, using her righteous thoughts, she managed to get out of the detention center. The First Detention Center routinely uses this torture method on Dafa practitioners and other detainees who cannot finish their assigned prison work on time.

3. Criminal Activities Conducted by Persecutors Zheng Genqi and Wang Changxin at the Hengshui Brainwashing Class in Hubei Province

Zheng Genqi and Wang Changxin are heads of the vicious brainwashing class in Hengshui City, Hebei Province. Since July 20, 1999, they have been following Jiang's regime and participating in the inhumane persecution of Dafa practitioners in Hengshui City. They launched a non-stop campaign to arrest Dafa practitioners and place them in the brainwashing class. Each brainwashing session lasts 15 days and costs 3,500 yuan. Practitioners are forced to pay this, otherwise, they will not be released from the brainwashing class. For the past several years, Zheng Genqi and Wang Changxin have extorted large amounts of money from practitioners' families, and they detain practitioners who refuse to give up their belief for extended periods of time. They also beat practitioners. Because of their actions, some practitioners were sentenced to forced labor, and some were forced to leave their homes or their jobs and go from place to place to avoid being persecuted. They also instigate former practitioners to intimidate, gang up on, and deceive practitioners in order to force them to give up their belief in Falun Dafa. Even older and pregnant practitioners are subject to their persecution.
