By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Hubei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) I am 62 years old and started practicing Falun Gong in May 1996. I have cultivated in Falun Gong continuously for the past few years. I rationally appealed to the government to restore the reputation of our Teacher and Dafa. I also shouted out "Falun Dafa is good!"

Twice I went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice my beliefs. I rejected the house arrest order for a year, was jailed for 40 days, put into brainwashing centers twice, abducted three times, and harassed more than ten times each year. I have steadfastly told people about the true nature of FalunGong, and made it through despite falling off the path many times.

The first time I appealed for Falun Gong was in September 1999. When the police interrogated me, I started telling them how my health had improved after practicing, and this made the guards unable to continue the interrogation. At the time, I had no fear. All that was in my mind was Teacher's teachings. Teacher said in Zhuan Falun, "I am rooted in the universe. If anyone can harm you, he or she would be able to harm me." I steadfastly said that there is definitely nothing wrong with cultivating "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." Therefore, I was placed under house arrest for a year.

My second appeal was on June 18, 2000, when I was stopped in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. After being detained for two days in Shijiazhuang City, I was jailed by the local police for 40 days, and subjected to numerous types of torture.

Over five years, I was arrested three times and sent to brainwashing centers twice. I refused to cooperate with the guard's orders at all times. I told them the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong and sent forth righteous thoughts. Therefore, nothing could move my firm belief in Teacher and Dafa. Every time I was detained, I was protected by Teacher and did not come to any real harm. Upon starting a 15-day brainwashing session, I returned home on the afternoon of the first day. During the second month of the brainwashing session, I returned home after six days. One time I was arrested by the local police and was taken to the police department, yet I was able to go home after just six hours. I truly felt this was due to the power of Dafa. I cannot use words to describe everything that Teacher and Dafa have given me.

I honestly feel that I am a truly happy person. While cultivating for nine years with Teacher's teachings, I truly understood the meaning of life. I understand that I must follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" to become an unselfish and altruistic person.

During one brainwashing session, a Secretary-level member of the local Political and Judiciary Committee tried to force me to write a "transformation" statement. He said, "Can't you live without practicing Falun Gong?" I answered, "I can't. It is Teacher who cured my illnesses and purified my body. Therefore, I must let people know about the persecution of Falun Gong and how they have been deceived, and I must continue to cultivate to the end."

During five years of persecution, I have been through enormous tests. When fellow practitioners were arrested, my first thought was to quickly notify others to send forth righteous thoughts as a group in order to reduce the damage that could occur. When arrested practitioners could not stand the torture and revealed my name, my first thought was to look inside myself. When fellow practitioners told me to hide, out of concern for my safety, my first thought was, "with the master and the Fa here what is there to fear?" (from "Lecture in Sydney"). I asked Teacher to help me send forth powerful righteous thoughts and totally deny the old forces arrangements. I am a practitioner during the Fa-rectification period, and I am a part of the Fa-rectification. Teacher arranged the path I walk; no evil has the right to test or move me.

I deeply feel that Teacher protected me and helped me pass every test and tribulation. During this short, yet long, five years of cultivation experiences, I have walked through attachments to fame and personal gain, life and death, restrictions of human society, as well as feelings of hopelessness and pain.

For the past five years, in order to tell people the true nature of Falun Gong, distribute leaflets, and put up posters, I have walked down large and small streets, passed numerous tall buildings and houses, and countless villages.

I was greatly encouraged by reading the experience sharing articles from other practitioners published on Minghui Weekly and Minghui Special Editions (Minghui.org is the Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net). Compared to those practitioners, I still have a long way to go, but I am determined to eliminate all attachments and be an up-to-standard practitioner during the Fa-rectification period. There is still a portion of the difficult path to walk, but Teacher, rest assured, I will walk it righteously.
