Dafa Saved My Life

(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Li Yang (an alias). I am fifty-seven years old and work as a farmer in the Xinyang area of Henan Province. Both my sister and brother-in-law practice Falun Gong. Before the persecution began on July 20, 1999, I often visited my sister who lived in the city. One time they were showing videos of Teacher's lectures and I watched it with them. Sometimes they held group Fa-study at their home, and I would read Zhuan Falun with them. At that time I felt that every sentence Teacher said was the truth. However, because I was so busy with my farming work, I did not have much time to study the Fa and practice the exercises. After July 20, 1999, my sister's home was ransacked. She secretly sent Dafa books and materials to my home. I hid them carefully and waited until the end of the dangerous time to return them to her. During the several years that Jiang's regime persecuted Falun Gong, I repeatedly visited my sister and brought Dafa books and materials back to my home for safe-keeping. I was certain in my mind that Falun Dafa was righteous and could improve the morality of society. There was nothing wrong with the practice. Justice would eventually be served on behalf of such a wonderful practice. During the time when I worked in other cities, I always picked up any Dafa materials or truth-clarification DVDs on the street that were discarded by others, and carefully brought them back with me.

At around 4:00 p.m. on January 25, 2004, I suddenly fell to ground, unconscious. My family sent me to the hospital and I was diagnosed with late-stage stomach cancer. Upon learning the news, my sister visited me in the hospital. She convinced me to study the Fa and practice the exercises. On February 9, I started practicing. The first several days, my sister and several other practitioners taught me the exercises (at that time I could only do the sitting meditation). They also sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the interference of evil. I was too weak to read the book. My sister and wife would take turns reading Zhuan Falun for me. I also listened to Teacher's lectures every day. My wife began practicing during this time. One week later, I could sit up and eat. I was also able to read the book and practice the exercises. I have not taken any medicine since I was released from hospital. Within less than twenty days, all of my symptoms disappeared and I recovered. My wife and I returned to my hometown.

Our local government was very vicious in persecuting Falun Gong. From January to April they detained one practitioner twice and later sentenced him to jail. The news of my cancer being cured by practicing Falun Dafa spread fast. The police from the security office came to my house several times. I was frightened and slacked off in studying the Fa.

Teacher said: "However high your character is, that's how high your gong is." (Zhuan Falun) Twenty days after I got home, my diseases recurred. I could not eat or drink. I vomited and had diarrhea and was too weak to even speak. I thought to myself: "I had doubts about Dafa. Teacher will not save me this time. I will die for sure." I had not eaten for nine days and depended on intravenous injections to survive. My sister and other practitioners visited me. They sat next to my bed and played Teacher's lectures for me. Although I could not speak, Teacher's every word went straight to my heart. On the ninth day, when my family was preparing for my funeral, I miraculously became conscious. I could eat and drink and also speak. The first sentence I said was: "I want to listen to Teacher's lecture." While listening to Teacher's lecture, tears fell. If it were not for Teacher's great compassion, how could I have survived? I will follow Teacher's every word, stay determined in cultivation and do "The Three Things" well, while walking my path righteously.
