Falun Dafa Practitioner Li Guoshun from Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province Died in Custody

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Guoshun from Baisha Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province was arrested on August 23, 2004 while passing out truth clarifying materials. Li Guoshun went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, and the doctors at the Minxi (West Fujian Region) Prison Hospital, along with the police, ignored his deteriorating condition. He died on October 14, 2004.

Mr. Li Guoshun is 27 years old and a resident of Baisha Town, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province. He graduated from the Longyan City Industrial Vocational School in 1998. He was sentenced to one year at a labor camp in August 2000,because he went to Beijing to appeal, and he was released on August 9, 2001. After truth clarifying materials were found in his home, Mr. Li was sentenced to another two years in a labor camp in December 2001. He was released on March 26, 2004.

Mr. Li Guoshun was arrested again on August 23, 2004 while distributing truth clarifying materials, and was detained in the Longyan Detention Center. In order to resist the persecution and wake up the world's people, he went on a hunger strike in protest. After fifteen days, the detention center sent him to the Minxi Prison Hospital, where he continued on his hunger strike for another twenty-five days without any treatment. He was sent to the Longyan City Second Hospital for emergency treatment on October 3, 2004, but died ten days later on October 14, 2004.

On two occasions, while Mr. Li was on a hunger strike, his family requested to bail him out on a medical parole, but was rejected by the police both times. Finally, when Mr. Li was dying, police asked his family to bail him out on a medical parole, but the family refused.

Police reported that he died of suicide. His body still has not been cremated. His family has requested detailed medical records for the period of his hunger strike in the detention center and at the hospital, plus his autopsy report.
