(Clearwisdom.net) It has been over five years since the Jiang regime began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. In order to let more people learn about the severity and brutality of the persecution and to call for it to end, Falun Gong practitioners held a live anti-torture exhibition and press conference on December 18, 2004 in Hsinzhu.

Guests attending the press conference included Deputy Mayor of Hsinzhu City Chen Quangui, directors of the offices of legislators, Ke Jianming and Ke Junxiong, Mr. Liu Huangying from the Falun Dafa Association, Deputy Director of the Association for Rescuing Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners, Mr. Liu Binghua, and Chinese Economy expert Mr. Wu Huilin. They unanimously condemned the Jiang regime's inhuman torture and abuse of Falun Gong practitioners, and called for an end to the brutal persecution soon to safeguard innocent people's lives and their human rights.

What stunned people at the press conference site was the live anti-torture exhibition. Practitioners reenacted several torture methods used to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in China, including force-feeding, the Tiger bench, slave labor, being hung up, hammering bamboo spikes into fingernails, and torture with a burning metal rod. There were also display boards illustrating other torture methods. Actually, the Jiang regime has employed over 100 torture methods to brutally persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The anti-torture exhibit attracted many people. After listening to practitioners' explanations, many people took the initiative to sign the petition to oppose the persecution, and they repeatedly commented on its brutality. Some parents explained those torture methods to their children after they learned the facts. Many people shed tears after watching the exhibition and listening to practitioners' truth clarification.

Several practitioners peacefully demonstrated the exercises beside the anti-torture exhibit. The peaceful scene formed a stark contrast to the brutality of the torture methods. Some people wanted to learn the exercises after learning the truth. There was also a parade in which the torture methods, Tiger bench and being hung up, were displayed on two vehicles driving through downtown Hsinzhu. More and more people watched closely and took truth clarification materials.

A businessman said that he had heard about the persecution of Falun Gong in Mainland China, but on this day, after seeing all these truth clarification pictures, he really felt the cruelty of the persecution. A photocopy shop owner said that such tortures could only happen in the Communist system, and that China would have no hope until the Communist party system collapses. A woman was shocked at the brutality of the persecution after taking some literature exposing the brutal tortures. On her way to work, she drove back on her motorcycle to the exhibition site to find out more.

Some people at first were reluctant to accept the truth clarification materials, but after listening to practitioners' explanations about the persecution of Falun Gong in China, they took the initiative to take the materials. Some people, while reading the materials exposing torture methods used to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their belief, had a hard time believing that such things still happen in modern civilized times. Students from the fourth or fifth grade looked at the display boards attentively and inquired about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. A man said he had seen these pictures on the Internet, and showed his concern over practitioners' situation on the Mainland. Several young ladies saw the anti-torture exhibition and asked, "Is this true?" After getting an answer, tears immediately welled up in their eyes.

The anti-torture exhibition offered an opportunity for the public to see what is really happening in China and what they saw truly touched their hearts. Since the persecution began, Falun Gong practitioners around the world have been continuously calling for an end to the persecution, and helping people learn the brutality of the persecution so as to awaken their sense of justice and conscience. Falun Gong practitioners believe that in the near future, the power of righteousness will manifest more and more.
