Forty-Three Additional Persecution-Related Deaths Confirmed in November 2004 (Photos)
(Clearwisdom.net) Non-governmental channels and information
published on Clearwisdom.net confirmed that another 43 Falun Gong practitioners
have died as a result of persecution in China. As of November 30, 2004, the
confirmed death toll of practitioners has reached 1,141 since July 20, 1999,
when Jiang Zemin's regime began its brutal persecution of Falun Gong. The fact that an additional 43 practitioners have died as a result of the
persecution was confirmed in November. Twelve of them died in 2004, four in
November. These 43 confirmed cases of practitioners who died as a result of the
persecution represent 19 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities: 6
cases in Liaoning Province, 5 cases in Hebei Province, 3 cases in Shandong
Province, 3 cases in Jilin Province, 3 cases in Sichuan Province, 3 cases in
Chongqing, 3 cases in Hubei Province, 3 cases in Yunnan Province, 2 cases in
Hunan Province, 2 cases in Tianjin, and one death in each of the following
locations: Heilongjiang Province, Shaanxi Province, Henan Province, Guangdong
Province, Fujian Province, Jiangxi Province, Guizhou Province, Shanghai City,
and Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Twenty-three women in these 43 lethal persecution cases accounted for 53% of
the total, and twenty people over 50 years old accounted for 47%. Twelve people
died as a result of the persecution in 2004, four of whom died in November 2004. Among the practitioners who were tortured to death, the oldest was
75-year-old Ms. Cheng, a retired manager of Northern China Building Materials
Company in Tianjin. The youngest was 22-year-old student Mr. Xie Hongyu from the
University of Science and Technology of China, who lived in Mo Jiang Hani
Minorities Autonomous County, Simao District of Yunnan Province. Among these 43 lethal persecution incidents, 24 practitioners died from both
physical and mental tortures at detention centers, forced labor camps, prisons,
mental hospitals, drug abstention centers, brainwashing classes, local police
stations, and 610 Offices. Falun Gong practitioners suffered various forms of
merciless beatings, other forms of torture, brainwashing, and financial
extortion. These verified cases include a couple who were both murdered (Mr. Peng Shimin
and Ms. Liu Xiaolian of Huangpo District Hardware Company, Wuhan City of Hubei
Province, who died as a result of torture in 2002). There was a whole family of
practitioners (Mr. Chen Aili from Canfangying Village, Beixinbao District,
Huanlai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, whose three children were
killed, and four of his family members were illegally sent to forced labor camp
and cruelly brainwashed), and a case where the elderly parents and young orphan
were left after the victim died from torture (police in Jilin City covered up
the truth about how Dafa practitioner Mr. Shao Hui was murdered in 2002). Many
of these cases reflect the violence, cruelty, and shocking nature of the
persecution, as well as how inhuman and widespread it is. Chen Aili persecuted to death, with one brother and sister having died
previously; his parents and another sister are persecuted currently This is a "Falun Gong family" at Canfangying Village, Beixinbao
District, Huanlai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, including the father
Chen Yunchuan, mother Wang Lianying, eldest daughter Chen Shulan and her
daughter Li Ying, eldest son Chen Aizhong, younger brother Chen Aili, and
younger sister Chen Hongping. All of them practice Falun Gong. After attaining
the Fa, the whole family benefited. The father's long-time illness of the back
and legs was healed without treatment, and the mother's arthritis and asthma,
from which she had suffered for over 30 years, also disappeared, and her temper
was greatly improved. Since the beginning of the persecution, and because he was persistent in his
belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," the eldest son of the
family Chen Aizhong was illegally sentenced to forced labor for three years. He
was sent to Hebei Province's Tangshan No. 1 Forced Labor Camp on September 12,
2001, and was killed just eight days later. The youngest daughter Chen Hongping
was illegally arrested and violently beaten at Donghuayuan Police Station of
Huailai County, which caused both her legs to break. She died on March 5, 2003
after being subjected to torture in the Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp for eighteen
months. On February 28, 2004, the father Chen Yunchuan, mother Wang Lianying and
their youngest son Chen Aili were abducted and taken to Zhangjiakou City's
Shalingzi Brainwashing Class for persecution. They protested with a hunger
strike. Two days later, the father and the son were released, but were locked
inside their home, and Beixinbao Village Police Station sent people to monitor
them day and night. Chen Aili's health deteriorated badly due to the torture. On
July 9, 2004, Chen Aili escaped from the monitoring and went from place to place
to avoid being arrested again. But his body was extremely weak, and his health
continually deteriorated. On November 5, 2004 he died due to the cruel
injustices inflicted upon him. Chen Yunchuan was again abducted on July 26, 2004, and taken to Shalingzi
Brainwashing Class for further persecution. On October 19, 2004, Wang Lianying
was sent back home, as she was on the brink of death due to the torture. On the
same day, Chen Yunchuan was also released. Soon after the two parents arrived at
home, they experienced the pain of losing their children. Of the four children, only the eldest daughter, Chen Shulan is still alive.
She is illegally detained at the Tiantanghe Women's Forced Labor Camp at Daxing
County in Beijing. Her daughter Li Ying has also been abducted and taken to
Changping District Nursing Home in Beijing City. Chief of the Labor Bureau Ms. Li Ling dies in 20 days under the new round of
persecution in Shenyang City's Dabei Prison Ms. Li Ling, 51, was the former chief of the Labor Bureau of Guta District in
Jinzhou City, as well as the deputy director of Heat Supply Company. Because she
practiced Falun Gong, the political and judiciary committee of Guta District
sentenced her to a four-year prison term and detained her in the No. 5 Division
of the Liaoning Province Women's Prison (Dabei Prison) to persecute her . After Ms. Li Ling started to practice Falun Gong in 1994, all of her
illnesses disappeared. She strictly followed the principles of
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," and was well respected by her
colleagues, neighbors, and relatives. After Jiang initiated the persecution of
Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for her beliefs in
October 1999. She reported to the relevant authorities her own benefits from
practicing Falun Gong. However at that time, the Appeals Office of the State
Council had become a place for persecuting and arresting practitioners, so Li
Ling went to Tiananmen Square instead to peacefully appeal. She was consequently
sentenced to two years and was detained in Shenyang City's Dabei Prison for
persecution. Soon after she was released, while she was at home on May 28, 2002,
she was illegally abducted again by the Political and Judiciary Committee of
Guta District. The authorities sentenced her to a four-year prison term and
detained her in the No. 5 Division of Liaoning Province Women's Prison (Dabei
Prison). Recently, during a new round of persecution targeting practitioners who
refused to give up their faith in
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," practitioner Li Ling died on
November 17, 2004 as a result of torture. When the prison notified her family on
November 17, she had already died. It was said that when her family visited her
around October 20, no abnormal symptoms were detected. But within a span of 20
days, she was killed. 75 year-old Ms. Cheng Ke tortured to death in Hexi District Police Station,
Tianjin Ms. Cheng Ke was 75 years old and an honored retired manager of Huabei
Construction Materials Company in Tianjin. Recently, she was tortured to death
at the Hexi District Police Station. We have learned that all Falun Dafa
practitioners detained in the Hexi District Station are on a hunger strike to
protest this atrocity. Details are being investigated. Ms. Cheng Ke lived in Dewangli, Hexi District, Tianjin City. On April 23,
1999, she went to Tianjin Institute of Education to clarify the facts on how she
herself benefited greatly from practicing Falun Dafa. She was subsequently
beaten by the police. A Hong Kong journalist called and questioned her about how she was beaten up.
Later Ms. Cheng was detained for responding to this call, and was charged with
"revealing state secrets." In 2000, because she remained steadfast in her faith in
"Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," Ms. Cheng was arrested and
sentenced to one year in a labor camp, which she served at the No. 5 Ward of
Banqiao Labor Camp in Tianjin. After she was released, she was arrested again
and sentenced to three years of forced labor, and underwent brainwashing at the
Jianxin Forced Labor Camp. Whenever someone spoke with her, she always told them, "I had sicknesses
all over my body. I would rather have died than endure the more than 20
different illnesses from which I suffered. I spent so much money on medical
treatments, but after cultivating Falun Dafa, my sicknesses were all cured
without spending a dime. Falun Dafa practitioners are not political, and we are
not against any government. We are merely trying to be good people by
cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." Inside the labor camp, the police bribed prisoners with reduced terms to have
them monitor Ms. Cheng. The police even extorted money from her. In 2002, Ms.
Cheng's leg was fractured when she fell down in the labor camp's bathroom. Under
her family's strong request, she was released on bail for medical treatment.
Then on December 22, 2003, the police from the local substation and labor camp
stormed into her home again, carried her out into their squad car, and locked
her up in Jianxin Forced Labor Camp. Police in Jilin City cover up the truth of how practitioner Mr. Shao Hui was
murdered in 2002 Mr. Shao Hui was a clinical doctor for the Hongshi Forestry Farm, the Hongshi
Forestry Bureau in Huadian City, Jilin Province. Throughout the persecution, he
had persisted in practicing and clarifying the truth about Falun Gong. Officers
from Jilin City's Police Department arrested him on August 2002, and he died the
same night, at the age of only 31 years. Jilin police blocked the news and did
not inform his family. Mr. Shao Hui was born in 1971. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1996 and
started a practice site at his hometown in 1997. He was kind, good-natured, and
was an essential worker in his workplace. He did not pursue reputation or money.
He frequently visited those who were severely ill and was very well liked. At
home, he showed filial devotion to his parents. His father-in-law, who was in
his 70s, had cancer and later lost control of his bowel function. Mr. Shao took
care of him just like his own son would have done, bathing and changing his
underwear for him. He was positive and always willing to help others. Friends
and relatives enjoyed his company and everyone knew that he was a kind person
who practiced Falun Dafa. Shao Hui's wife, Mu Ping, was also a practitioner. They had a great
relationship, and their son was smart and sensible. However, since Jiang Zemin
started the persecution of Falun Gong, his family experienced tragedy. After the persecution began on July 20, 1999, Shao Hui was repeatedly
persecuted by the police for practicing Falun Gong. The police department
restricted his freedom, suspended his ID, monitored his home, and wiretapped his
phone. Whenever a politically sensitive day arrived, he was forcibly taken to a
brainwashing center. He was forced to hand in a fee as a "guarantee,"
and if he refused, they would deduct it from his salary. Thus, he was deprived
of a normal home and working life. In April and November 2000, Shao Hui's home was illegally searched and he was
abducted. Shao Hui was forced to confess with beatings and sleep deprivation. He
was forced to squat for almost 20 hours. In December 2000, Shao and his wife Mu
Ping were both sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. He was sent to
Huanxiling Forced Labor Camp of Jilin Province. To reach the so-called
"conversion quota," the police imposed all kinds of harsh sanctions
and meted out severe physical punishment on practitioners. During this long-term
persecution, Shao Hui's body became covered in scabies. The sores on his
forehead left deep indentations. In December 2000, practitioners from Huanxiling were transferred to Jiutai
City's Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp for even more intensive abuse and mistreatment
under the persecution. The excruciatingly painful abuse in the Jiutai Forced
Labor Camp included tortures with names like, "White Dragon Baton,"
"Wolf Teeth Stick," "Willow Whip," "Electric
Baton," "Hard Rubber Hose," "Tiger Bench" and others. During February and March 2002, the guards subjected steadfast practitioners
to forceful brainwashing. On March 21, 2002, Shao Hui escaped from the labor
camp in an upright and dignified manner during the work hour, and was then
forced to go from place to place to avoid further persecution. Nevertheless, he
continued using all manner of ways to clarify the facts as usual. In August 2002, officers from Jilin Police Department traced him to a rental
apartment at the Second Geology building in Fengman District of Jilin City. A
fellow practitioner, who was with Shao Hui at that time, jumped from the seventh
floor and became disabled. Shao Hui was killed in that apartment! To cover up
their crimes, the policemen of Jilin Province blocked the news and didn't inform
any relatives. Shao Hui's parents had been seeking their son's whereabouts for the past two
years. Such a heavy shock has caused his father to become almost blind. His
mother has developed high blood pressure, and her lumbar was fractured when she
accidentally fell over. The two elders were mentally exhausted and suffered from
serious illnesses, but now have to raise their young grandson (Shao Hui's son).
Shao Hui's wife Mu Ping was also detained in the forced labor camp and suffered
all kinds of tortures until she was at the brink of death. The labor camp feared
being held responsible, and did not send her home for medical treatment until
October 2003. December 4, 2004
