Torture at Yitong Detention Center, Jilin Province and Weizigou Labor Camp, Changchun City
(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Dong Weixing is thirty-seven years old. On March
12, 2002, he was arrested and taken to the Dongjie Police Station in Yitong
County, Jilin Province. When he refused to sign his name on the record of
interrogation, the police tried to handcuff him. He did not cooperate. Five or
six people pushed him to the floor. One police officer ruthlessly kicked him
three times, causing him to lose consciousness. In the middle of the night of March 14, Dong Weixing was sent to the Yitong
County Detention Center. Police interrogated him, put a 55-pound shackle on his
neck and made him squat. At night, one officer insulted him for half an hour,
making him listen to the most obscene language. On the third day, police interrogated him again. One officer held a flyer and
asked him if he distributed it. He answered: "No." The police said:
"You have to admit it even if you did not do it." They took Dong
Weixing to the second interrogation room, stripped off his clothes and forced
him to sit on the "Tiger Bench" with feet stuck in iron shoes, hands
tied with iron chains and an iron bar put in front of his chest. They then
opened the window. It was snowing. Dong Weixing started shivering immediately.
Police poured cold water on him and blew air with a fan behind him. He was
tortured like this for three hours. On May 14, 2002, Dong Weixing and five other practitioners were sent to
Weizigou Labor Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province. They were forced to make
plastic buckets all day long and were not allowed to talk. They were denied
visitors or any other activities. Some even developed bedsores. Later the authorities started a so-called "forceful strategy." The
practitioners were made to sit on a board all day long. The length of time was
continuously lengthened, and they were forced to sit there until 12:00 a.m.,
2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. They had to get up before 6:00 a.m. Such torture would
often last more than ten days. When they were extremely exhausted, police then
took each of them individually to a small dark room and tortured them by hitting
their legs with a wooden board, poking their eyes or lifting their legs and then
stepping on the legs. According to criminals at Weizigou Labor Camp, there once was a practitioner
who went on a hunger strike. As a result, he was force fed with one bag of salt
in water. He asked for water to drink at night and was refused. The next
morning, he was found dead. At Changchun City's Chaoyanggou Labor Camp, the
guards tortured Xia Jun, who was from Shenyang City. They hung him up with his
arms and body straight, and he sweated all over. Cao Lijun from the Shuangchao
area was also hung up for one night. His arms went numb and only recovered half
a year later. Geng Zhi, over seventy years old, was also beaten in the dark. August 28, 2004
