Ms. Zhu Xiyu Suffers Mental Collapse from Torture at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, Changchun City By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Jilin Province Ms. Zhu Xiyu, formerly an accountant for the Dongbeiya Company in Yanji City,
Jilin Province, has been detained in the No. 4 Squad of Heizuizi Forced Labor
Camp for more than one year for persisting in her practice of Falun Gong. There,
she was tortured to such an extent that she now appears to be psychologically
detached, mentally impaired and unable to take care of her own basic personal
needs. On July 26, 2004, one of Zhu Xiyu's family members received a telephone call
from Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, and was told that Zhu Xiyu was in a trance and
unconscious. On July 27, this relative went to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp to
visit her. The police forced the family member write a statement on behalf of
Zhu Xiyu renouncing her cultivation, and then ordered them to go home and wait. They waited for several days without receiving any news from the labor camp,
so they went to the labor camp to request the release of Zhu Xiyu again on
August 12, 2004. At first, the police did not allow them to see Zhu Xiyu. Later,
after their strong demands to see her, they met Zhu Xiyu at last. It turned out
that she had been devastated to the point of mental collapse. Her hair was white
and she was incoherent. They felt extremely sad. Ms. Zhu Xiyu was born in April 1955, and belongs to the Korean National
Minority. At about 7:00 p.m. on September 1, 2003, the deputy director of Henan
Police Station in Yanji City, together with two police officers, broke into Zhu
Xiyu's residence and ransacked it. They looted some Falun Dafa books,
truth-clarification materials and pictures of Teacher and forced her to
accompany them to the third floor of the Henan Police Station. At 8:00 p.m. that
day, the police began to extort a "confession" from her by torture.
The youthful, strong police officers took turns brutally beating her. They
deprived her of sleep, hung her up by handcuffs, kicked her vital parts with
leather shoes, whipped her face with the soles of their shoes, and wrapped her
head with plastic bags and so on to devastate her. As a result, she was badly
beaten and her face was swollen and blue. At about 9:00 a.m. on September 2, 2003, officers from the Yanji City Police
Department's State Security Squad and personnel from the Yanji City 610 Office
were ushered into the Henan Police Station. Zhu Xiyu was transferred to the 8th
floor of the State Security Building and subjected to more cruel persecution.
Under the secret direction of Li Dongzhu, deputy director of Yanji City Police
Department and specifically in charge of persecuting Falun Gong, Xu Xiaofeng,
director of the State Security Squad, and Xiao Bin, deputy director of the State
Security Squad, Song Lihai, Zhu Yongcai, Zhang Wenzhu and Huang Wenzhe from the
State Security Squad took turns torturing her. Her left hand was hung up by a
handcuff at an angle of 20-25 degrees; her right hand was handcuffed to a
cabinet at an angle of 75-85 degrees; her left foot was shackled under the
heater; her right foot was fixed onto the crossbeam under the cabinet with only
her toe touching the ground. Her legs were separated at an angle of 30 degrees.
Meanwhile they humiliated and mocked her. With hands hung by handcuffs and legs separated with only the toes touching
the ground, her body weight was borne by her wrists. As a result, her arms lost
feeling after first being in severe pain. Zhu Xiyu endured all this torture
without yielding. The police tried every means to break her spirit, like
beating, intimidation, high-pressure, and menacing to wear down her will. They
tortured her both physically and mentally to achieve their so-called goal; that
is, to make her disclose the source of informational materials. Zhu Xiyu was beaten until she was covered with blood and her entire face
disfigured. After being hung from handcuffs for nearly three and a half hours,
Zhu Xiyu was buckled up for a long time with one hand attached to the heater and
both feet shackled. Meanwhile she had to stand upright without food, water or
sleep. She was let down after more than 13 hours. Zhu Xiyu was now unable to walk, and her whole body developed edema. When the
guard pulled Zhu Xiyu into the cell, the inmates were frightened and tried to
hide themselves when they saw her appearance. The guard ordered the inmates to
oversee her closely. Zhu Xiyu resisted the persecution by going on a hunger strike. The guards
began to force-feed her on September 8. The guard incited the inmates to drag
Zhu Xiyu, who was unable to walk then, to be force-fed. If she did not
cooperate, the guard incited 7 or 8 male inmates to tie her up for
force-feeding. On September 16, 2003, the Yanji City State Security Squad sentenced Zhu Xiyu
to 3 years of forced labor. Zhu Xiyu, who had been on hunger strike for 17 days
and was near death, was taken to Hezuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.
The Labor Camp refused to accept her. With great difficulty, the police from the
Squad found Zhu Xiyu's son, who was studying in Changchun University, and left
Zhu Xiyu, who was in extreme danger then, with him. Her son borrowed 100 yuan to
send his mother back home at 4 p.m. on September 17. When her family members saw
her appearance, they said: "The harm done to you is even worse this time.
You look paler than the time when you protested by hunger strike for 56 days in
Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in 2001. Zhu Xiyu recovered extremely quickly after returning home. She told people
about the persecution she suffered in Henan Police Station, State Security
Squad, and Detention Center. People all accused the police of brutal evil acts.
After her health was restored, she began to practice the exercises in Jindalai
Square. On the morning of November 9, 2003, the police from Yanji City State Security
Squad rushed into her residence again and abducted her. Afterwards she was
directly sent to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp. She has been imprisoned illegally in No. 4 team of No. 4 Squad in Heizuizi
Forced labor camp for more than 1 year now. The barbaric persecution has
devastated her: she is in a trance, unconscious, and unable to take care of
herself. On September 17, 2004, Wang Zhufeng, the guard in No. 4 Squad, kicked one of
her front teeth out. As a result, her lip was seriously damaged and bleeding.
Moreover, she developed dizziness, nausea, and was unable to eat for some time.
After this event, Wang Zhufeng refused to acknowledge his deed, saying there
were no witnesses. Wang Zhufeng also trampled her toes ruthlessly with the heels
